I am going to put some Michelin X-Ice snow tires on my wife's 06 100 and need to source some cheap "take off" wheels. If I buy the tires from Costco they will swap them for free each year. So where should I look for something like the following picture below? Also what should I expect to pay?

The current tires are 265/70-17....wish I could find some wheels in this size but it is proving hard.

I did find a set of 4 2011 Tundra with 255/70/18 Michelin tires with 20k on them for $250. Would this fly?

I like the steel wheel on the right but where can I find them cheap?

Can you post the link please ?

I’m looking at cl right now , but I can’t find it? What is the key word ?

Just got a set of 4 18s off Craigs List for $100. :)

Going to paint them Gray or maybe Black like Rundogs5000's pictured below.

Merry Christmas Mud....

Thanks Spresso ;)

So it sounds like I will have to hit up Costco for new lug nuts...

"steel wheels are lug centric (hangs on hub and wheel lugs and nuts snug and center the wheel"

Black is so 10 years ago . Keep them silver or go old school Toyota gray.

I always thought 18s are too big for off-roading , oh well. nice wheels dude

These wheels will be for snow tires for the Wife's rig :princess:

On mine I run LT285/70R17/D

Here is StinkyFj60's wheels...his are actually split Rims.

Remember my Cruiser is white...what color of Gray is on the 60 above?

Those 60 rims above are split rims. I am not sure what color they are but I refinished my 40 series disk brake steelies with Krylon Smoke Gray. They look very, very close to factory steel wheel color for 1977. Here is the best pic I have of the color:

I was really pleased with the Krylon Smoke Gray.

Thanks Copenhagen. ;)

Did you use the Rust protector version? Also did you use primer or a clear coat?

I used an etching primer, then smoke grey, then a clear coat. But, I had to sandblast my wheels. They were an original set that needed some TLC.

Your wheels look like they are in new condition. I would wash them with Dawn dish washing liquid (grease cutter) and a fine grit Scotchbrite pad (purple). That will degrease and scuff them up enough for paint to grip. The original paint on your wheels will function as the primer. Then after they dry, wipe them down with lacquer thinner and go ahead and paint them with the smoke gray. 2 light coats then 1 medium coat to finish. Read the paint can and follow directions for how long to wait between coats. Clear coat the same way, 2 light coats, then 1 medium coat.

You really would only have to paint the faces. It is all that will show.

This is the one I used. I think I bought it at Walmart.

I just did the exact thing as you about a month ago. I found a set of 2009 LC take offs. Not cheap but I wanted a factory look. I also wanted 17" rims vs factory 18". This allowed me to undersize the tires to save money and improve traction in snow. 250/70 R17 Blizzak DMV1 from Costco. If you would like I could inquire I can see if there is another set available?

Thanks LXLuther....

I had Blizzak's on my 4Runner and they were awesome but the snow tire was only the top 50% of the Tire....price wise they are very tempting!

Going to try the Michelin X-Ice 2 this time around...they get just a hair higher in the ratings on Consumer Reports and they have a 40k tread life warranty. The local Costco said they could have either tire in 5 days.

Also 17's would have been awesome but the these 18's were a deal. Our summer tires are 17" stock Land Cruiser wheels.

Those steelies are running about $100 a set here in denver

I just paid $750 shipped for a set of LC 16" chrome takeoffs. Wheels were like BRAND NEW and were off an 02-03 and had been in storage awhile. It was cheaper than the factory painted alloys I could find on eBay. G/L.
