Stopped by to see some progress on the 305. Should be complete next week. It's been rebuilt at some point, crank was worn and the rods were not replaced in the correct order. Crank, pistons and rods are being replaced with stock parts.
My builder is a really neat guy with a great history in racing and engine building. I've been through his shop a couple of times and it's always been well organized and clean. He showed me first hand how to balance the rotating assembly, had my crank all set up on the machine and everything.

Going Black and Chrome for the engine. Most parts cleaned up well enough to be reused in this department.

Do yourself a BIG favor and scuff up the lip of the oil pan where the gasket goes. Chrome and gaskets don’t mix well. Chrome timing and valve covers, ditto.

The TC bearing is .01 off on the small side.

Any tricks to get this on without damaging anything?

Ran into a couple of delays but things are moving along nicely.

The starter I previously used didn't clear the new bell housing (nosecone interference) and the mechanical cooling fan alignment was off for the new radiator. Old radiator was bracket bolted to the bib....awesome, do more of that please. The new radiator (CruiserCorps) fits in the OEM core support and is much larger than my old one, mainly taller. Got a new core support and rods from Brandon at Classic Cruisers.

For the starter I used - DL6313ms, this smaller motor clears the dipstick but the older bigger motor OE unit does not. testfit photo

Just got the Black Magic 188 electric fan with the variable temp control and relay kit. I've only got 4.5 inches of clearance from radiator to pulley, this seemed like my best option.

The Engine, back to the TC is installed. Driveshafts just got back. Exhaust is done (only needed new flanges at the header) and hung, new fuel lines are done. Need to wire up the Electric fan and get the cooling sys together before it's ready to get started.

My Transmission tunnel is hacked pretty bad to start, now a little more to clear the 4wd shifter. Bent the TC shifter a bit and cut a bit to get clearance. At this point, I don't really care about the Trans tunnel, it got hacked for the automatic, what's a little more. The Transmission shifter cane clears the heater no problem with the 60 top plate, thanks @65swb45 .

More pics in the next couple of days.

Back on the road!

Here's the Black Magic fan set up, so far I've driven about 100 miles and engine temp stays put at 180-190. I'm looking forward to the summer driving temps to see if this holds up.

New starter and fuel pump pics. Here's the slave cylinder mounting on Advanced Adapters Bellhousing, it was a direct bolt on and alignment looks good.

Trans tunnel and seats were torn up bad. Had this cover made as a temp fix but I think it's there to stay. Cruiser Corps seat covers worked out nicely.

Had to rebuild the drivers seat bottom foam completely and it turned out really nice. Stiffened up the outer sidewall of the bottoms that tend to get compressed/stressed the most when getting in and out.

Front end rebuild complete, new rotors and pads installed. Power steering is in the works.

This thing is starting to come together! I believe that I need to change the front output bearing in the TC as it still has a pronounced Power On whine that gets worse as speed increases. Sounds exactly like the whine some others have had and posted on YouTube.
