Fantastic...

Waiting for pics of the post-CLR bath.

Well I was supposed to do that today but I decided to put some miles on it instead

I loaded up Pig and took off with my friend @Papalud as chase vehicle in case disaster struck

You can see that I only did the tailgate and the right rear panel with CLR. Oops.

After lunch we cruised more old backroads back toward my house

And then it started raining.

Hard.

And my wipers would not come on. (They worked before)

And my lights went out.

But iT was awesome

60 was easy. No leaks around the engine bay. Found a few in the cab that I was able to caulk up when I got home.

Overall it was a superb long range test.

I’ve got a nice rainy day tomorrow to work on the Goat. More to come.

Rain, steel and temperamental grounds. You gotta love it.

The old tnk wiper motors are cold blooded, like a snake coming out of hibernation! I used to pull the covers and give the armature a lil help!! 45 adventures never a dull moment!

Yeah, tailgate is free.....but it's a package deal. The truck is $25K what's patina worth these days anyway..

GOAT looks like a snap shot in time in front of that store... Gotta love it.

I call them "Cruiser Adventures" because it always is....

Nice Coca Cola inn you have chose.
Reminds me when I ordered a Coke somewhere and they only had Pepsi.
The waitress asked:
Is Pepsi ok, Sir
Cheers Peter

I was truly puzzled that he would even go there.

He is mad but he insulted my Goat so I don’t care.

Truly unreal.

I got my lights working again and the wipers.

Lights. I think my switch needs restoration. Seems to be the issue.

Wipers were the fuse.

One more pic of that cool ass Alpha lock and key.

I noticed last week on the gravel roads that the bed was hopping around a bit on washboard so I looked into tightening up the bed mounts.

Turns out there was 2 of 10 pads still on the truck. The rest were gone. 1/3” gap from the rusted ass bolts and the frame/bed

I kicked around some ideas. Looked into getting some energy suspension mounts. Then I read I needed 2 FJ40 kits at $250 each to rob enough short blocks for the bed.

I said what else you got.

I bounced it off the #eaf group text and @ntsaint suggested a rubber horse pad.

I stopped by Tractor Supply and picked up a small pad for $35 that is 1/2” thick.

I cut ten 2x3” blocks and drilled em out

My material is thicker. I tightened it down hard so it’s only about 1/3” thick now.

That horse pad fix made my wife smile. And it's noted in my fix book as I have only one bolt holding my rusted bed in place, and no pads. My 2-year old paint mare says "Thanks!"

2/3 of the truck is CLR bathed. I’m taking a break doing some house duties and will be diving back in after lunch.

It’s a bitch but the results are so cool.

The door area has a lot of white primer but the red popped out to match the bed and cowl nicely

Left 1/2 done. You can tell on the few remaining painted areas

I rubbed this until I got all the red I could salvage.

Lighting sucks. If it stops raining I’ll get some good pics.
