Juanote, beautiful truck. The Canadian BJ70's were a 3B weren't they? So I'm wondering what kind
of turbo has been added. Is it just lifted springs? Looks like it's SOA, sits really nice. Not many left
looking that good. J

Thanks! I don't know what turbo was added, but you might be able to tell from these pics, also, I am also not sure if they added anything else, I will get it no later than Thursday this week, so I will post more pictures when I do. Also, what's SOA? I'm completely new to the 70 Series

Sweet rig! I think I remember seeing this on Bringatrailer a while ago. IIRC it is a LHD Spanish LJ70, so it has a factory 2LT instead of a 3B, and coil suspension. SOA is spring over axle, it is when leaf springs are mounted on the top of the axle rather than the bottom, essentially giving the vehicle a lift.

I don't even see leaf springs on the back, I assumed it's the same configuration as my 80 series.

I saw it and I just HAD TO have it.

The interior is in pretty good shape as well, I will surely enjoy it more when I add A/C to it.

Never sold that model in Canada, that is really a great truck! I could never figure out why all the people
in Canada started importing from Japan instead of getting LHD from Europe all those years ago.

I think it was lower kms, more accessibility, normally better conditioned (but not always the case). I don't think europeans were trying to get rid of them as aggressively as the Japanese. - I could be wrong, as I'm often fos.

Vast of majority of the trucks here are well used and not in the greatest shape.

Hmm, thought I'd added mine to this thread years ago... apparently not.

1. Year and model of vehicle: 1989 BJ74

2. IH8Mud Handle: bj70_guy

3. Location of vehicle: Vancouver BC

4. Country of Origin: Japan

5. Mileage: bought with 93,000, now 160,000 km

6. Modifications: Now-sagging Emus, 315 Cooper STTs, Marks low range T case gears, F+R air lockers, Cruisin' Off Road rear bumper, sliders, skid plate, ARB front bumper, 24V 8274, 24V Puma OBA, 3rd 12V battery

6. How you use the truck: Was a do it all DD, wheeler, long haul trip machine, track bike hauler. My HDJ81 now covers most of that, so it's likely to be an occasional local wheeler, fun time, too-cool-to-sell vehicle now.

Hi all.

I live in Tanzania, in east Africa, and have been a member of the Mud community since I bought my first TLC 5 years ago. I've owned 60- and 80-series cruisers (plus 2 Hilux Surf) but have coveted the 70 since I got to drive one for a year as a Peace Corps leader in west Africa in the late 90s. Unfortunately, on my teacher salary the 70 always seems to be just beyond my price range.

I was just watching this Andrew St Pierre White video, in which he reviews changes to the Aussie-spec 70 series TLC for the 2017 model year. At the very end of the video he mentions that 'an insider' says Toyota is considering bringing the 70 to the USA for the 2018 model year. Have any of you heard this news? Any 'inside info' that may be more reliable than what ASPW has? It would be so awesome to have a Troopy in the mountainous western US....

Here's the video if you're interested:

Here is mine...we live in Kampala, Uganda. The bonded car yards here a filled with all sorts of junk from Japan. But when I spotted my PZJ77 in Nov last year I could not resist. Its been a year of absolute reliability. On start up she almost fires before the key turns. My 11 year old daughter calls her 'Roger'.
