yeah that is true, if you are doing a lot of accelerating it would wind you down with inertia alone. ultimately i'm a big believer in find what you like and that IS best. nines and sixes certainly have their pros and cons... biggest con to 9 i've found is lack of options... tires, wheels, forks, frames, etc. but it is miles better now than it was 3 years ago when i built mine.

in the scientific sense, i have a an Energy problem, not a Power one...

and back to rory, that is a SWEET bike rack for certain.

29ers have come a long way from 3 years ago. Even Yeti has two models. I never really had any problems pushing around the bigger wheels, I actually loved how they climb. My problem was the super steep head angles, no decent tires and no good forks. That has all changed recently, but I am super happy with my sixers.

The North Shore racks are awesome. I have had a chance to check out a couple and they are nicely made. Problem is they have a steep entry fee.

do I need to scrounge Rory's garage for older MTB parts for my new MTB?

Ash, I have that Schwinn Moab that you saw on my wall if want a bike. The Redline will be too big for you, and still use the Litespeed. I should have enough parts to get it trail worthy if you are still intrested.
