That is correct part number. It works for fixed roof 70 series.

Ordered the same awhile ago for my HZJ77 and worked just fine. If you get from a local dealer...inspect it before you leave with it....otherwise you might end up with expensive broken glass. Ask me how I know....... I ended up getting a new windshield from partsouq, packed in a wooden crate for less cost (even with shipping included) than what the dealer charged me for the first one that was broken.

Make sure you get the correct windshield rubber depending if you want to re-use the chrome bits or not. I would not reuse the original rubber but it is your choice.

56121-60120 is the rubber without the chrome insert.

56121-60130 is the rubber for the chrome inserts.

Thanks for the speedy reply! I am just happy I can get the glass in the USA. I think I can have a windshield guy repair the small rock chips. but just in case I know I can buy another.

If you like the chrome trim around the windshield then I would just try to repair the chips to avoid removing the windshield.

I am told it is very difficult to reinstall the chrome into the rubber.

I'm bringing this thread BTTT... Thanks @FJ73Texas for the clarification.

I was just inspecting the brand new windshield that came with my truck a few years ago, before I FINALLY bring it somewhere this week for install. The glass is still in the box, and a careful inspection reveals it is fully intact. But I got a bit of a fright when I saw the weatherstrip. The previous owner, in addition to windshield 56111-60220, bought the weatherstrip as well, p/n 56121-60120. It wasn't matching with what my research said should be 601*3*0. If I'm reading you correctly, I can use this gasket instead and the installer simply pulls the old one, and leaves out the chrome inserts when installing new glass/weatherstrip? I don't need anything else, and end up with a stealthier windshield?

Correct. In my opinion, without chrome inserts looks better too. You can’t use the chrome inserts on 60120 anyways because it is missing the grooves that 60130 has.

I'm just confirming and also curious as I haven't been able to find a clear answer despite many searches here and google... there are several questions started about KZJ78 glass and several answers that answer but say "for many 7x series" without dotting the I by saying "including the KZJ78". I'd prefer 100% confirmation before I order an expensive and non-returnable part.

I am assuming through all of this that the KZJ78 (and KZJ71) along with it's LJ older siblings share the exact same glass shape as every other 70 series at least in the 1990-2006 range? And that any difference in part numbers is just details like what kind of glass, tint on top or not, etc?

The parts diagram for the KZJ78 shows the windshield glass is 56111-60150 and it oddly doesn't appear in any search of this forum, including when people ask about the KZJ78 glass and get re-directed to the 56111-60220 as per this thread. So... I plan on going down to Toyota and ordering:
56111-60220 (glass)
56121-60120 (rubber without chrome insert)

I believe that 5611160220 is going to be the only option for any older narrow nose 70 series with the steel dash. I ordered mine from partsouq and it arrived from Dubai within a few days without any issue. No tint on it.

I just replaced my windshield and no-chrome gasket on my 96 KZJ78. Those are the correct numbers. $530 for both at my local Toyota dealer. I could not find an overseas source that was either willing to ship glass or cheaper than the dealer. Getting a chance to inspect the glass prior to acceptance was important to me.

At least we can still get the new windshield glass at the local dealers here. Just ordered new sunroof glass to keep as backup and that has to come from Dave Stedman in Japan via an unlisted Toyota part number. The rubber around the glass sunroof does NOT come separately as it comes permanently installed on the glass.

Doh!

I just discovered the boxed windshield does not fit in the back of a Prado as the box is much bigger than I thought it would be. It probably would fit diagonally if you remove one of the back seats and don't have the 3rd row seat on the opposite side, but it's about 6-8" too long even diagonally if all you do is flip the rear seats forward. It may have fit if I layed it flat so one end was resting on the folded rear seats and the other end was resting on the cargo floor near the barn doors, but I didn't like the idea of the window suspended by only it's ends while I bounced my way home. Plan in advance and take a pickup or an SUV with a bigger ass than a Prado... or completely remove a rear seat.

For what it's worth, the windshield (56111-60220) was about $670 through one of my local Toyota dealers (including tax/shipping). I had priced it out on Partsouq and Megazip, and after shipping, the total cost was going to be either $725 or $640 by buying it overseas and having it shipped. I don't remember which was the lower cost, but I know whichever had the lower price for the part had a much higher shipping cost and ended up being the most expensive source.

I'm having difficulty finding somebody to do the install... appears almost all the glass companies make their money on the glass itself, so they won't touch one where the customer provides the parts and they don't know enough to order the parts I tell them to order (they keep pulling up the '95 80 series glass from a standard US LC).
1) Does anyone have the full FSM pages related with windshield replacement? I've seen images of a couple diagrams, but not a pdf with the full instructions.
and/or
2) Is there a Toyota with fundamentally the same technique and process for windshield installation as the KZJ78 where I can get an installer comfortable that they aren't doing something exotic? I know these windshields install differently than most modern cars. Off hand, I would have guess the 60 series Land Cruiser probably works the same... maybe 80s or 90s 4runners - something along those lines

Find a mom and pop glass installer business that has been around for 30+ years far away from the suburbs, and safelite locations. It is what I did.

Tip: The guy that did mine is the local installer for UPS trucks which are installed the same way or so he told me. Maybe ask a UPS guy in your area who does theirs.

This is what the FSM has with regards to windshield replacement. Anyone familiar with replacing glass in an older vehicle should be fine with this process. The main sticking point might be the perceived difficulty of getting a replacement in case the installer accidentally breaks the glass.

Got a windshield from Toyota last week. They quoted over 700 and agreed to match my dubious online price. Going to install it myself whenever I get the weather seal from overseas. I've done all the glass on an 80 and a windshield on a 62 a long time ago, it wasn't too bad. Tip. Apply packing tape in a Union Jack pattern to dampen shocks and vibrations during the install and clean the residue later.
I also need that stuff Toyota calls " glue". The reason I want to do this myself is to take my time assessing and treating any rust under the frame. I always found some lurking under paint in the lower two corners on other cruisers.

Oh and the box went into the KZJ78 diagonally. I folded and flipped one seat.
