Part number & source for sliding rear window rubber seals?

Hi all,

Does anyone have the part number(s) for the rear sliding window frame seals? (1989 LJ70) I need to fix some small rust hoes in the channel and wish to do the job correctly.

I see in my chassis manual (page BO-39) it has the remove/install procedure, but I'll need the rubber part numbers. And a U.S. parts source if possible.
the picture below is the type of window I have.
Also any tips and suggestions are welcome if you have done this procedure before.

There are several of these kinds of sites but I find Megazip the easiest to deal with, with the best user interface, and they almost never say they can get something they can't, nor do they ream you on shipping upcharges.

(jblueridge) The sticky thread for parts sources seemed to be for actual shops and repair facilities, and online custom parts. I had searched ToyoDIY yesterday before posting, but the results were vague with few or no diagrams. Other searches elsewhere would muddle hardtop and soft-top versions.
(TennesseeJed) Megazip is a goldmine of information that I was not aware of before today. With model breakdown & diagrams - who hooo! I'm trying to avoid buying parts from overseas that are for a different variant of my model, and cannot be easily returned if the wrong ones are sent.
I feel much more confident with Megazip's site. Been looking at the site for over half an hour and am amazed at the parts available. Time to fill up a shopping cart.
So thanks again. P.S. - Also a GD fan, especially the JGB's Legion of Mary days and any of the '73 to '80 small venue shows.

At least one rubber part in not available anymore.
 
This is all very helpful.
Sounds like I should remove both sides first, check for which parts I need, which can be re-used and then order what is needed. Whatever isn't available anymore I'll have to fabricate or re-use. I can keep the LC in the garage while waiting for parts.
 
I don't know how you could fabricate that window molding. I would get the parts you can find IN HAND and then start your disassembly. Putting an old molding back in place will just never go well. It's like draining your oil before you know you can get your filler cap off.

You can also check on Amayama, (once you know the part number) and Cruiser Outfitters (have your frame number in front of you when you call.) There is also Partsouq which is well respected and Yoshiparts which I've never tried. Even ebay but watch out for forgeries. Rubber items can be among the hardest things to find so cast a broad net and if you find it, buy two. That way you can help a fellow mudder.

You have to sign up for ToyoDIY to get the diagrams. That site should take your VIN number, again if you are signed up. Doesn't cost anything and as far as I know I don't get any spam from them. I've used that sight for at least 10 years.
 
You need the following parts for a SWB LJ70:

Main weatherstripping that seals the frame to the body:

62741-60100 x1 (RH)
62742-60090 x1 (LH)

Main frame for the windows:

62705-60032 x1 (LH)
62706-60022 X1 (RH)

Rubber Window Runs:

62755-60050 x1 (RH)
62756-60050 x1 (LH)

Center weatherstrip:

67045-90K00 x1 (RH)
67046-90K00 x1 (LH)

Those are your main pieces to remove the side glass and redo the main pieces. There a number of pieces of hardware, but you should be able to reuse what you have.

These are all available from non-US sources. Pick a flavor and order up.
 
Many thanks guys, this is all good stuff. And yes, served on a silver platter @Guyute. :smokin: Late summer I'll be bringing the rig into the garage for some intensive mechanical rehab and for minor bodywork. It will be indoors for a couple months I expect. I'm in the parts-gathering stage now.
I've tackled the rotted-out sliding side window runs on a Land Rover Series 3 that had sat outside abandoned for 20 years and survived so I imagine that Toyota would go about the same (or likely better) as far as time and patience needed.
I have a newfound level of enthusiasm to do these windows now with all your help and encouragement.
Kurt, I'll be reaching out to you for a parts order later this summer. Will have a list ready.

I just wanted to follow up on this thread I started. As of yesterday, I now have brand new window frames and seals installed! Many thanks to you guys for the support and advice - especially Moderator @ OGBeno and Cruiser Outfitters. I placed the order with C.O. and even though some parts were on back-order from Japan I received them in a timely manner and well-packed. Installation went very well considering I took the frames apart a couple of months ago and had to remember how it all went together. I did use the 'soapy rope trick' to get the inner seals to snap around the window opening. I will advise anyone doing this job to write with a sharpie on the glass which side and location they go (before disassembly) to save a bit of time. The second window went in much faster than the first. I got a helper to push against the window from the outside to hold it in place while I pulled the soapy rope. If I can do the install, anyone can. Thanks again, guys! :)

My new window runs don't sit well in their appropriate channels in the metal frame.
They sort of pop out.

Should I glue them in place?

jblueridge....I did not notice that my new steel runs had a natural curve to them that matched the contour of the rear window opening. I feel that I had a left and right side run shipped to me. One side did not fit as well as the other, that is when I realized that they must be matched per side. I probably could have used them on either side but they definitely laid flat against the body better on each side when I test fit the empty runs back and forth to each side. After install, my windows are laid in very flush. Is it possible you have yours on the wrong sides?
 
I'm pretty sure I kept the left and right rubbers with their respective frames.
I'll switch them and see how that looks.
