Gear indicator light “R” comes on with turn signal (1 Viewer)

07 LX470, 195k. Recently, when I use the turn signal, the “R” gear indicator light in the dash turns on and blinks. This is intermittent.

Only electrical work done to the truck was bumper, winch, light bar and rewriting turn signals when fog lights were installed. This was 3 years ago.

Any advice re where I should troubleshoot? I don’t mind the “R” blinking but if it is a short to a ground somewhere it might be good to figure it out and do some preventative maintenance.

I searched for other threads and found a few similar issues in the 80 forum but nothing definitive.

Did your truck get rained on recently?

If you have trailer light wiring, crawl under the passenger rear side of the vehicle and unplug the trailer harness converter. When they go bad, they can cause some really bizarre gremlins like this.

Do the reverse lights also come on at the back of the truck?

As stated .. it is most likely the trailer wiring.

It is parked outdoors. It gets all the weather.

I haven’t checked as I had been driving , will try to duplicate while parked.
