Can anyone tell me exactly what comes in the gasket set 04112-66032? It appears to have the valve seals, which purchased alone would cost more than the gasekt set. I also have a few of the gaskets already from another 'cruiser, such as the valve cover, throttle body but it looks like I'd come out cheaper having double with the gasket set.

Thanks

04112-66032 is replaced by 04112-66035
Current list price on the 04112-66035 is $274.99, almost 90 dollars more than the last published list price on the 66032. That will give you some idea of how long ago the number changed.

Will still need the EGR gasket and extra gasket for the water pipe on t-stat housing, distributor O ring. I also like replacing the oil fill cap O ring.

so dan, the gasket kit does have the valve seals correct? I just noticed the price and couldn't belive it had the valve seals, but then again my number and price is nearly 5yrs old.

Overall would I be better to buy the gasket kit and the other extra gaskets or should I buy all the gaskets individualy? I only ask because the steering knuckle kit actually costs more than buying the gaskets piece by piece, so it got me thinking about the headgasket kit.

The 04112-66035 contains the following bits:

Head gasket
Valve cover gasket
Spark plug tube seals
Throttle body gasket
Exhaust manifold gaskets
Ehaust flange gaskets
Intake manifold gasket
Intake plenum gaskets
Valve seals
Injector seals
Water bypass pipe o-rings
Timing chain tensioner gasket
PAIR valve gaskets (used on 93-94 engines only, comes in all kits)
upper water outlet gasket
fuel delivery pipe gaskets

Thanks!

Since i'm working at a very leisure pace, should I replace the head bolts. I know the book doesn't call for it, but how many of you have?

Don't if you don't have to. The FSM has specs on what the head bolts should look like after you remove them and gives you parameters for maximum thread stretch.

I didn't which was kind of surprising considering I replaced every other bolt and nut in there.

Cheers.

Did you blow your head gasket or are you doing it as PM??

That's because a set of heads bolts is over 150 bucks...;)

Neither, common you guys know my cruiser better than that. I still haven't bought into the HG issue karma floating around here. I just got bored. :D Acutally it puffed a little oil smoke when I cranked it so I figured it was time for new valve seals....or it could be from setting a month between drives.

I'm glad to hear that you did not fall victim to some kind of karma. Maybe its that stale garage air finally taking its toll on your oil seals.

Did you check the spark plug tube gaskets set in the valve cover?

How many miles are on that museum piece?

Nope the plug tube gaskets have let no oil in. The initial smoke wasn't a new thing, its been doing it every now and then for a while. I just needed to keep the 'cruiser in pieces more than I drive it......which the tranny is comming out as soon as I finish the head to fix my minor rear oil seep :D

I just redid my oil pans about 4 weeks ago. What a pita. Did the valve cover gasket (broke a bolt off and had to weld it to get it out). I used a little copper permatex on the plug tube gaskets since I failed to buy new plug tube gaskets :hillbilly:, but I am still getting a puff of smoke every once in a while at start up. I also did my power steering pump and high pressure line a couple of days ago. The pump was starting to leak like a sieve. What a mess. The engine compartment is now very clean. Prolly looks somethin like yours. :D I am now watching for leaks and things are definitely getting much drier on the driveway. I'll see in a day or two if any leakage remains.

I don't understand it. My truck spends very little time in the garage. :hhmm:

:lol::lol:

Sounds like you've been busy under the 'cruiser.

Yes. If I can break free tomorrow I will bring the cruiser to the meet so you can see that there are other 80's with spotless engine bays. ;)
