I was wondering where the hell you can buy a new charcoal canister in the US? The major parts stores don't seem to have it and where is it on the car?

Your friendly Toyota dealer is the only place I know of where you will find one for a 100.

Most are located @ the fuel tank on late model Toyotas, but off hand I am not sure where it is on the L/C .....

I know I get a strong fuel smell when it is over 100 degrees out and I am running my rig hard, I changed the cap and it seemed to help temporarily.

Good luck !

Good point on the fuel cap, should change them every few years it could just be the rubber seal getting old.

I would definitely try the cap first, then look for any other leaks in the system before going for the charcoal canister - because they are very expensive. I have asked the parts dept in the past and they claimed they don't recall selling any from wearing out. They rarely sold them; and then typically as replacements from accidents.

Fuel cap= $12
Charcoal Canister= $480

Agreed, try replacing the fuel cap first.

Hi,
I wouldn't buy the canister just yet. ( see my post )

I just can't find out what is causing the smell.
It is taking all the enjoyment out of myLC.
I have replaced the fuel cap as well.
If you ever find the answer, Please, please let me know!
Dominic.
