You also must consider that the odometer is off with larger tires like Shotts and others run.

Movingup to 35's from 31s will put the odometer as much as 20% off. Figure this in when figuring the mileage.

Just dividing the miles driven by fuel used will be off if you upsize the tires.

I think it is great! Course I want to think it is. Big time haul from Maine and pretty much did it without any dilly dally. Did stop off at Gettysburg for a Chevy Chase "Vacation" moment but that was it since I could not coordinate with OEX guys in CT to run me through their 1 day expedition course.

I want to get back to thinking it is a great rig, but I need to solve the starting issue.

Congrats on the new rig! It's a great ride!

To answer your specific question about miles on the tripometer.

In the winter, between 280-300 miles. In the summer I've gone as high as 330-340 miles.

Unfortunately the trip odometer poll doesn't really mean anything, the only way to compare gas mileage is by calculating it, the gauges are not highly calibrated so every one will be slightly different, not to mention some people always fill up with 1/4 left while others drive 30 miles after the light has come on.

FWIW, I haven't been able to calculate ours yet, because in the month we've had it my wife has not yet written down the miles (as I asked her to do) when she fills it up  Oh, well, I'll just pretend she's getting 20mpg 'til I know better. ;)

20mpg, that's all!!?? Shoot, I like to think my LX gets around 30. Something must be wrong with yours...you may want to check those darn oxygen intercooler lines. They always seem to be clogged up!:D

11.7 mpg on the first tank since I bought it. (239mi/20.4 gal). Mostly city driving in Cleveland.

BTW, still looking for a mechanic in Cleveland, if anyone's got one....

much better than I expected!

Just drove back my new-to-me 1999 TLC :D back from PA to Charlotte. calculated as follows:

distance between fillup, 355ish miles, and was half way between last tick and the "e" mark. Filled up 20 gallons (maybe 20.2 with top offs). Ran cruise control between 64-67 mph, through hilly terrain, and still did a bit better than a whopping 17.5 miles to the gallon - super happy about that!

OH - also running regular 87, too :)

I got 14.5 to 15 mpg for 50/50 freeway/city driving. 16 to 17 mpg for 100% freeway to Lake Tahoe, NV. Those data were running 87 regular gas. I am running 91 premium gas (The highest from common gas station in CA) now to test octane is it a major factor for fuel consumption.
