No progress, but here's a good pic...

thats a great pic !! just hope shes not jealous of the attention the cruisers are getting

Adorable! Man she's growing fast.

So I finally placed my order at Man-a-Fre/CCOT, so the suspension work can get started once the present arrives. In it, new extended brake lines, center pins, shims, shackle bolts and bushings, 4+ U-Bolt flip kits, OME spring pins, voltage regulator, and a bunch of Zero Rust! Let's hope that my research on the Bilsteins that I would need for the lift, are in fact the ones that I ordered and have been running with for a year now...:D

Ok so finally got around to putting Ramon's old springs on the cruiser this weekend with the help of Greg and Martin. Thanks again for the short notice...

Put a 4" inch lift, Man-A-Fre U-bolt flip kits (those things are beasts), new bushings, new greasable shackle bolts on the anti-inversion shackles, new greasable spring pins, and new center pins. We managed this feet from about 11-12ish to 5-6 ish (about halftime during the Carolina game). Everything went pretty smoothly, which I didn't think it would since everything on that cruiser is coated in about 2 inches of rust. Of course a cutting wheel doesn't care about no stinking rust...

We thought we might have a pretty uneventful day (other than my dumb-a$$ cutting through the brake line) until the brand new hi-lift I bought that morning decided to shift when we were trying to put the rear wheels back on. I think it may have only dropped 6 inches or so...

Got the new brake line in and took it for a spin, much different than what I'm used to. Now I just need to finish some brake line modifications, and get some new rear shocks. Yes, evidently I just ordered what I need at the time (last year) and not what I would need in the future. I'm not even sure if I could have gotten shocks that would fit both...

Some pics...

Brian, I tell you that thing looks pretty good, glad to see it's all buttoned up, are you happy with the new ride quality? now we just need to scab up that rear frame hanger and gussett.

Yeah, a little bouncy since the shocks were'nt hooked up, but I love the stance now (I'm now thinking some skinny 33's would be nice). I didn't want to do a lot of driving since I haven't changed the brake lines out. I also didn't put the extension lines in yet. So I didn't drive it too hard, just a trip down to the store and around the block...

I'm going to have to have to ask about the brake line extensions. Are they true extensions to the original or do they replace the original? I started to undo the original line that connects to the axle, and that connection does not turn in place, the whole line turns. I was afraid I'd have to take the whole line out, and I didn't have a plug to keep the fluid in the reservoir.

Yes, I need to get some measurements to do the repair. I'm thinking some rectangular tube on the inside to provide some support, and a scab on the outside to tie it together. Then whatever for the gussets...

So on Sunday I installed the CB antenna and cable, just need to wire it in. It is tentatively going to sit in the old radio slot... I also need to ground my radio...

I also started to remove the old steering stabilizer, but need to remove a cotter pin that was giving me some problems...
And of course I broke out the wire brushes and went to town on the frame, no ZeroRust yet, but that's something I'll have to do in sections...

WOW! That Hi lift is toast.

Yeah, I haven't tried to take it back yet, but if they hassle me, a replacement bar is only $25 so I'm not totally out the cash... That's the reason I went with the hi-lift. They seems to have the replacment parts more readily available...

Brian, honestly I wouldn't settle for not getting it replaced, honestly all they are going to do is send it back and get a credit. It is very surprising to me that it bent and didn't actually just lean and then fall. Did you get it at the one off Buck Jones?

Brain...Looking awesome..don't worry I've done that with a highlift with my cruiser too...just landed in the dirt but was a PIA to get back up.

You might be able to live without the brake line extensions...I flexed mine out and they didn't need it. I guess it all depends.

Great work.

Nice work. Good to see some recycled parts put to good use. Now let's go flex it up!!! Hey should not think twice about replacing that Hi-Lift - glad nobody go hurt!

Yep, I'll take it back sometime this week. The lady who sold it was very nice, and I had Lily with me, so I'm not really stressing it too much!

Yeah, it kind of shifted in slow motion. It was on Greg's side that it fell, and he thought he saw it shift on the previous notch. We waited and nothing, so we went up one more notch, and that's when it leaned...

Looks great. you can get complete replacement lines at napa for like 10$ a piece, if you are interested I can look up the part number.

ok so I lied about the price...but they have them.

you can order from rockauto or napa...rockauto is a little cheaper, not sure about shipping.

Brake Hose - Rear

NAPA part# 38009
Rock Auto# BH38009

I've already got the extensions. I just didn't know if I needed to remove the original ones and replace with the extension, or daisy chain them up... I'm looking to Ramon for the answer.. ;)

OK, so I figured out how the lines connect. Problem is, hard line connecting the flexible line is pretty durn rusty. I'm gonna replace the whole thing and call it done. I've got a few more that need replacing, so I didn't tackle that today. I'm gonna assess the whole brake line issue, and replace anything rusty. I'm also going to pick up a few brake bleeders with the check valves, so I can do it myself.

What I did do was finish the radio/CD player install. CB is installed. And I replaced the steering stabilizer. Scraped the hell out of the frame rails and shot some zero rust on the parts you can see. I'll be back under getting the stuff you can't see soon...

I think the HAMOM at my place, might not be needed. I think the second Sunday is Easter anyways...

Oh, and no problems with replacing the HiLift...
