I have tried almost all of them. The Sherwin Williams two part ep[oxy is the best to date. You have to use muradic acid to etch the floor, let it dry, paint the first coat, and within 24 hours apply the second coat with a little silica sand for traction when wet. Expensive stuff, but by far the best.

I used PORTER PAINTS 2 part exoxy on my garage floor to over up oil stains from the P.O. The Porter exoxy paint is avail in a number of colors. It went on easy and the price was 65.00 per gallon. The coverage was better than stated on the can.

I used a two part mix from Menards and it held up well. For cleaning, I used Muriatic Acid and went to town. The granular stuff that came with the product got tossed in the trash.

What was your total cost, did you paint a 20X20 garage or something larger?

I did mine last weekend in Colorado with the same 2 part 100% solids epoxy. It looks as good as anything I have seen. 10 mil thick with 1 coat. I would use nothing else.

I used the rustoleum product from Home depot. Mainly because its all I could find in short time period. its been down since last April and still looks good. I need to clean it more often though.
I put it through the test before xmas my parts washer leaked unkowningly for around a month and left a puddle sitting on the slab. I thought for sure it would lift the epoxy but nothing. I have dragged rear ends and trannys and pallets around on it and am totally surprised how tough it is.
I could have gone thicker on the application too.

I also used the Rustoleum from Home Depot.. I had heard good things about it, plus it came with the acid for etching the concrete. I've used it for both my houses, and have been pleased with them..
Like the others said.. Make sure you clean it well, scrub all the crap off, clean it, and make sure the concrete is completely dry before you apply the epoxy.
One last thing.. Make sure it's not too cold when you do it. Not sure where you are from, but it won't cure right if it is too cold..

Well I get a "deal" on the kits(2 gal kits). My garage is 30x24. I used 3 kits. I painted mine green, so they have a wide array of colors.
You have to acid etch, etc. then I rolled 2 cotes on in 2 days. It is bullet proof, but I still slip on my ass.
If you need help from a rep I will turn you on to a store, and they can turn you on in your area or just ship you some, etc. I would say a kit is about $60 or so . I used the 'multi-epoxy', not sure of the # or tech, but I can get it.

Well since I started this thread guess I need to update it

I will take some pictures soon. I only did one coat.....moving in didn't let us do a second coat. Guess so far so good....slid a bunch of crap & still doing good.
My almost 1 year update with the Rustoleum stuff reveals that it has rubbed off in a couple places under the wheels of my wifes van. It didn't do it around my Taco or 40 but I know that I spread it too thin where she parks. The rest is holding up good though. Not sure if it will bond properly if I recoat one section or not. Any guesses if it will work?

Thanks for the update. The HC epoxy is on sale right now at Sherwin Williams. It is normally $96.00 fora a one car garage (250 sq ft), but on sale now for $69.00.
We are closing on a house next week, and I really want to epoxy the floor before we move in. Like you, it will be a time crunch, though. I am thinking about using the epoxy first, then a layer of the clear coat with the no-skid material added in for extra protection.
The epoxy-coat.com stuff looks great as well, but maybe more then I need for my home garage.
The new garage is 24x25, with another 12x17 section, so I think It will take 3 kits.

What we did was ask the builder if we could clean the garage floor before moving in..........then on the closing day we painted it.
We cleaned with simple green & a floor scrub brush, we let it dry I think 3 days.
Lucky the movers were 2 days out.
On our 24X24 we used about 1.5 kits.
We got the same price $69.
One thing I can say is if you will have any water on the floor or have kids add something to make it non-skid. I can honestly say with water on the floor its bad
I have already caught myself a couple of times.
If you notice by the lawn mower a light spot.....only thin I can say is maybe there was moisture from the concrete leach up

I bought 3 of the HC epoxy kits, in spite of all the hype on "The Garage Floor Journal.com." I talked to the Sherwin Williams guru, and he said even though the kit doesn't call for it, most contractors would still etch the floor with muriatic acid to improve adherence, so that is what I'm planning on doing.
They also make a clear urethane top coat, and one gallon treats 500 sq. feet, but he said it wasn't necessary unless it was outside to protect against UV rays sun and other chemicals. I may do it anyways if time permits, and will definitely use the Shark Grip no slip additive to aid traction for the kiddos.
We are supposed to close on Tuesday morning, so I am planning on cleaning and acid etching it Tuesday night, then epoxy on Wednesday night or Thursday, and move in on Saturday. I'll take pictures.

The SW product runs about $70 a gallon with a cash account ($100 with out) and is well worth the money. Don't even bother with the HD stuff.
My only regret with my current garage is that I didn't add any traction material. Like others have mentioned, my floor has the traction equivalent of glass on ice when there is water or snow present.
My first garage had a really rough floor so I didn't notice the severe lack of traction. The current one had a pretty smooth finish and the epoxy made it even smoother.
It took about two weeks for the epoxy to fully cure, but you can walk on it within two or three days without hurting it. When you do put it on, don't skimp and put down a pretty thick coat of material. It will come out looking great. I was trying to stretch mine since I had a pretty large garage to do and it's a little thin in a few spots. Nothing a 3rd coat (and sand) won't fix.

I used the rustoleum stuff as well from HD. I did it in wintertime (garage not heated). Clearly not very smart. I cleaned - poorly. I used just warm water, dish soap and a brush. Kinda' cleaned the floor. Let it dry and then applied one coat. It's been good for 5yrs. No stains, no peeling, though it isn't shiny anymore. For $80 and 5yrs, not too bad.
