I was going to ask about that too. Since we're going to be closer now I am hoping to make it out to some more of the events through the year. I'll def be at GSMTR but most likely just with the 4Runner. I need to get the mini out!

Why won't you have the mini at GSMTR? I know you have a trailer now...

Yea, Rance needs to know where to wheel your truck ;-)
I was thinking the same thing Nick. I'm pretty sure he needs his truck before he tries to schedule anything.

Ehhh... I didn't have a good time with it last year. I was really disappointed by the lack of trails near camp and the place is so big that I didn't really know where to go. Also, driving the mini long distances to do a short trail kinda sucks. If there was some kind of plan for rides and I could do some more fun trails I might. Last year I think I only did one hard trail. :/

Edit: I would also want to trailer the mini closer to the trails. It's already pretty much off road only now but by then it won't have a tag or insurance.

don't worry, Dodge going in for a new heart tomorrow, just didnt get around to it today so I'll be back in the game asap!!!

come on Sam, don't know who you were following around last year but there's absolutely no reason why good trails couldn't be found. I was there 5 days last year and wheeled great and different trails every single day. As far as rigs, you're in the same boat as me, Nick, Steve, John, Sid etc. and half the other guys that were up there.

The solution is so simple, buy a $5 trail map, locate little black squiggly line, drive to line. A damned monkey can do that. Now get the crap on the trailer and get 'er up there. :flipoff2:

Planning on doing Tue- Sunday again this year. Trails on the agenda this year are Walden's Ridge BABY!!! 15 (daily), Little School bus, Rail Trail, 40, 12, 41 and 41A, 3, stairsteps, Cadillac Hill, and I'm sure there's a few I've forgotten. More than nuff to stay busy.

x 2 on what Ted said...

Wheel with us this year at GSMTR and you will have all the time in the world to find the "good trails" AND break all your $HIT :steer:

Just trailer your mini to the trailhead in the mornings and wheel all day. I cant imagine your truck has much worse road manners than the Franken80 and I drive it on the road from camp every day...

By the way, I think I am going to be in the market for an 80 with factory lockers in the $5k price point, so keep your eyes open....(I know about Brian's for sale, but cant afford $8500)

Wait, whaaaat?

Wait, whaaaat?

The Civic is pissing me off and I want another 80, I had this epiphany about a week ago. If anyone is interested in a 2006 Honda Civic with 112k on it, let me know...

I think you have a clear path Sam... Stop making excuses and go break stuff.... Uh... Um... Ok, I'll help with recovery. :)

Il shall be at GSMTR this year, probably Thursday-Sunday. I'll be in my 80. I need to weld in some body panels.

Any one want to help?

:)

Or a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid with 130,000. I need to unload that in March.

We'll see. If I have a clear plan of what trails I'm going to run (like following you crazy bastards) I'll bring it. I will absolutely not bring it for 5 days and just have it sit there like I did last time. That sucked. It's not all the park's fault, or mine either really, it was a combo of rain, lack of planning, and just general lack of knowledge about the park.

We can only lead you to water...

My rough game plan, each is a full day in no particular order
  1. Waldens Ridge
  2. Trail 9, 12, 13
  3. Trail 39/40/3 (Rail Trail)
  4. Little school bus, Stair Steps, 41, 41A

Notice you do not see Trail 16 or 22 on there, this is not an accident as they don't count as trails. Well maybe 16 does but I have no interest. That's 4 out of 5 days planned with no thought assuming my truck stays together that long.

~ 41, 41A
Are these the ones we did that were fun until the last hill?

Don't know if you remember, but that sweet rock garden is off the side of 16. I think you can just drop in at one of 16's many intersections though probably.

Rail Trail???

Rail Trail???

Yeah, Rail Trail... Trail 39. This is the very bottom near where 39 and 40 meet, Back behind your rig a little ways would be Cadillac Hill and the top is where the coal pile is/used to be... Trail 40.

those 2 pics are taken in sequence, where'd Adam go? Under the tire?

We usually run this trail 39- 40 -3 but i think we oughta run it the other way around, down 3 to 40 through the creek and up 39 via Cadillac hill. this is the way we first did it back in '11.

and yes Steve 41 and 41a are the 2 little trails we did a few weeks ago, short but fun.

never really understood why car companies do crap like that, suspect the general public really is that stupid though.

at least these folks take it with a sense of humor, love the sound of the big block while climbing the hill. Wife showed me this yesterday.
