i think it'd be cool.

That's what I need instead of the Tacoma!

With a 6bt it would.

I have considered the same thing for my 80 as a Tow rig.... I say go for it so I can take notes :D

Andrew had a good idea last night for sound deadening and heat shielding. If you guys have ever priced Dynomat or similar you know how expensive it can be, here's the cheap alternative and basically the same stuff just a little thinner but can be had at Lowes for $16.

Peel & Seal 6-in x 300-in Aluminum Flashing

that is an awesome idea

Hmmmm, interesting... Direct rebuttal to Nissan's announcement I'm sure. Funny that Nissan didn't get some sort of business "trust" on their deal with Cummins just to avoid something like this happening.

As much as I was ragging on Toyota for letting Nissan do it to them, I gotta admit, this could be a pretty nice comeback and really take some of the wind out of Nissan's sails.

It made a big difference in my truck much quieter and better stereo sound out of my speakers. I also sealed with undercoating in key seams and filled one area with foam in a can. Takes a out 2hr per door and about 1hr per quarter panel. I made a jig out of a small plywood sheet and added a smaller straight piece of plywood mounted on a hinge to cut straight lines. I would start with the floor or quarter panels to build your skills . Doors are tough :grinpimp:to

Is Kia gonna come out next saying they are going to begin making a medium duty truck in 2015 that will be powered by a V8 Cummins diesel???

I think it is kinda sketchy that both Nissan and Toyota would both have contracts with Cummins for their trucks. Am I alone in thinking this??:confused:

jynx, they did say that. The cummins is already emissions legal in the US so it would make sense. I do like the Cummins engine but I'd much rather Toyota use their own. It would be nice to see a 1 ton Tundra sooner rather than later. But, they still will likely not have one before 2016-2017.

Nick, I agree that it seems strange that one or the other would not have an exclusive contract with Cummins. I can't imagine Toyota sharing a drive train with Nissan either.

Yeah, after I thought about it, I figured it all boiled down to the emissions stuff. I'd say it is probably a marketing tactic, and if Nissan wants the V8, I say let them have it, let's see that I6 big boy in the Tundra's. If they were to come out with a SFA 1 Ton crew max diesel Tundra, I might have to figure out a way to afford one of those, even though it would probably be like $60k

I doubt it would be SFA regardless of what drive train it has. I would like to see the twin turbo V8 diesel they have in the Middle East in the 200s in the Tundra but I don't think they could make it meet fuel economy regs. And, yes, a diesel Tundra is going to cost like 60k. A regular 5.7 4WD Crewmax truck is going to cost you 42-45 for and SR5 (base model) and a Limited or Platinum can already easily approach 60k.

~And like Cid (I think) said Cummins and V8 don't belong in the same sentence.
I have to politely disagree with you guys on this one. Although the standard Cummins motors may be reliable powerhouses, I think making a smaller displacement V8 will make for a much better "street truck". These aren't meant to be a replacement for HD and 1-ton trucks, but rather a more friendly and socially acceptable diesel truck that will appeal to a much larger market [than HD trucks].

Look at it this way: I could put an engine from a big rig into a truck and it would obviously blow away any competition in the torque category. But even disregarding the obvious size and weight problems, that setup in a truck would be slower in both loaded and unloaded conditions due to the RPM limitations. That's just an extreme example to show that I think the same applies to the typical _BT engines next to the proposed 5.0 V8. The V8 would "wind up" faster, have a higher redline, have a more linear power curve, and ultimately just be a more "street friendly" engine. One of the only major benefits to a more torquey inline motor would be if it had a super high final drive to be able to do 80mph at 1200RPM or something ridiculous like that. I know I got 11mpg once in my big rig with its 12.7L I6 on a long trip mostly unloaded averaging about 65mph @ 1500RPM. Imagine taking all of that wind resistance away and adding another couple of gears to drop the RPM and raise the speed. I bet it would've net me 15mpg easy, maybe even 20!

Feel free to point out holes in my theory - its just my 2¢

Anybody got any 35s I can roll around on the street for a day? My idea is to see if I can live with having a ruined DD before I get rid of my 33s.

Do it and don't look back but unfortunately you're 0 for 2 with me this month, sold mine about a moth ago. Frankly, don't even know of anyone nearby rolling on 35s at present...
