Silver Series Models
There were two different Silver Series models, the SS60 and the lesser known SS150.
Silver Series SS60 1983
The limited edition 'Silver Series' was available in 1983 to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Landcruiser in
Australia. It was the idea of Ian Glover, then editor of Overlander Magazine. The model was loaded with many
accessories that were available as options from Toyota dealers. It also had some Sahara accessories as well. As
the name suggests they were all silver in colour with distinctive pinstriping. There were only 500 made, but they
were not numbered. They were available as both FJ60 and HJ60. Main features included;
Only 500 produced
Chrome wheels from the Deluxe model
Front bucket seats from the Sahara model
Interior colour is blue/grey.
Alloy combination bullbar designed to take a winch
Chrome rear bumper
Chromed tow bar
Chromed grille
'Silver Edition' badging front and rear
Tailing edges of the door lined with a silver protective edging
Distinctive striping
'Silver Series 60' tape deck and AM/FM radio
Headlight protectors
SS150
The 'Limited Edition Silver Series 150' was available from South Australian Toyota dealers only in 1986. There
were only 50 ever made and each vehicle had a separate ID plate with the build number out of 50 stamped on
it. The model was created to celebrate the Jubilee 150 - the celebration of 150 years of European Settlement in
South Australia. Evidently it was the Deluxe model, but had the Sahara interior.
