In my 1995 fzj80(271k+ miles) a miss started in cylinder 3 a couple weeks ago caused by what I believe is a injector, I have continued to drive it while waiting for the new injectors to come in. The other day I had to move a non running truck at my shop, so I used my winch to move it, in the process I noticed while giving the truck revs that a large amount of blue smoke was coming from the exhaust(it has never burned oil just leaked from a bad valve cover gasket). Next day I did a compression test and got about 80-95 psi in all 6 cylinders and a leakdown from 58-80% (leaking from exhaust). From what I found the normal compression is between 121-171 psi. With as many miles as I has and a plan to do the transcontinental trail next summer I believe that rebuilding is my best and maybe only option. The rebuild kit I have found is from yotashop 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser 4.5L Engine Rebuild Kit EK967 -3. It consists of gasket set, piston rings, pistons, main bearings, rod bearing, and thrust washer set for about $600. Has anyone used this kit? any problems? or other kits out there?
Thanks
Charlie
