I need Hi-steer on my truck, and from what I can see, no one is really offering it. Therefore, my cad drawings are going to the machine shop in a few days and I'm having some made.

I searched the forums here, and it seems like there is demand for hi-steer 80 arms. If youre interested, post up or PM me.

Probably around $300-350 for a pair of arms.
 
What portion are you going to move to make it a "higher" steer?

The drag link is alread attaches to the arm on the top of the pass housing. The tie rod mounts to the lower portion of the housing but an 80 housing on an 80 frame and engine does not have much room above the pinion, my axle shaft actually has been hit by the sway bar during articulation.

I also feel that the drag link and tie rod being mounted on the top and bottom of the housing is probably the strongest. The forces of the box is on top, the counter force for the other side is on the bottom. This will spread the forces over 8 studs and more evenly on the trunion bearings than if all on the top.

Hmm. I'd definately be interested. What, if any, mods will be needed for the knuckle? I'm using ABS knuckles, it seems that you could make an arm that would utilize the hole for the speed sensors. Good luck with it!
 
Christo (Slee) has some very beefy working options for 80 high steer.

It used a bung that is welded into the ABS sensor hole. The new arms have tapered holes to accept the same studs and cone washers that is used on the bottom. You need a RHD steering arm for the DS to make this work.

There is something funny looking with that last picture! What model of "80" could that possibly be? :grinpimp:

Can you use just the PS "hi-steer" arm and retain the tie rod behind the axle?

What did you do with the rear facing tie rod steering arm sections when you put the whole steering up front?

How much rise does this create for the drag link?

Are you selling something to raise the panhard at the axle specifically or relying on folks to fabricate it on their own?

Yes, that can be done.

On this truck, we just left them. But you can cut them off if you want.

Never measured it, but probably around 4-5"

We did not really make these for the stock 80 application. Most people that use them swapped 80 axles into buggies or off-road trucks only. So we never addressed the panhard, except on this 100 SAS, where obviously everything was custom. Since you loose ABS with these arms, I did not figure there will be a huge market in the lifted 80 market. That said, if the panhard is raised, the arm could be used to make for better angles on the front.

The picture posted is the 100 with 7.5" of lift and the angles are pretty good.
