The on hand is now zero but the status code remains blank. This suggests that one could be off-line ordered from Japan. Transit time on such orders can run up to four weeks.

I have one in stock by the way.

My boat has specialized sacrificial anodes on the gimble ring and lower drive housing for this exact reason.

This is the world I come from, so get it exactly - I'll need to look as Rifleman said for these threads, funny I don't recall any (TBH I rarely venture from the 80 section tho).

Talking boat annodes & in my head I see this electrolysis actively happening when the axle is saturated wet, like our winters or deep sixing for a creek crossing / puddle hopping.

Somehow I bet I do as I do with the boat, -when in doubt, cover it with grease.

So just for the fun of it my son and I dissected this corroded mess.

Water was in there for some amount if time. The big gear has a rust line across it (see screwdriver tip) and a lot is sand.

Moisture getting in has been the #1 actuator failure that I have seen, the breathers are not the best. On the rear it's in the harness and terminates in the left rear wheelwell over the frame. We clip the end off, extend with vacuum line into the jack compartment/quarter panel. Once this is done, have never had the problem repeat.
