I am thinking about getting rid of my beloved 91 FJ80 with 157k miles and zero rust. I plan on moving to Colorado in the next few years and it got me thinking of an upgrade. I would prefer a 2008+ Land Cruiser with the 5.7V8 but could be interested in a 2000+ with similar mileage and zero rust. It is my daily driver and have done a lot to restore it to its original functioning specs plus a little lift and extras like new A/C, cooling, steering gear/pump, leather interior, paint, etc. I love it for driving around Dallas and going on some off road park trails but in winter storms I am disappointed, the windshield wipers suck, the windows roll up slow even after replacing the motors, the heater is rather pathetic for a high altitude adventure, and the power/fuel economy of the 3FE is stupid.
What is the appetite to trade for a later model?

How much do you want for it ?
I really haven't gotten that far to even think of a price, nor do I think I'd get anywhere near what I have into it. I was more curious if there is even an appetite for 100 or 200 series owners to trade.

I would guess your gas mileage will be about the same between the 80, 100 and 200. If the 3fe is least fuel efficient, you could still buy a lot of gas for the price difference between your vehicle and a clean 100 or 200.

I am surprised your heater doesn't work well. Maybe it is the 3fe vs the 1fz but mine seem to heat up well once the engine gets to temp. I would take a few 100 and 200's out for a test drive before making a decision.

Can't help you with the power, but for a winter vehicle, you shouldn't be going fast anyway, shouldn't be rolling the windows up and down much, and if your windshield wipers don't work well, then maybe you need to get some OEM wipers or replace the wiper arms (or springs) if the springs are worn out. I haven't had a vehicle with better wipers than my 80 series but I haven't had a lot of vehicles to compare it with.

You have a good looking 80 that you are familiar with and is more that capable for winter driving if you have good winter tires on it. If you want something else, that is one thing, but I don't think you "need" to change out your vehicle. The 100 and 200 are great vehicles too. Whatever you decide, make sure to take good rust prevention measures if driving in the salt. All of them will rust - some faster than others.

100s or 200s not an upgrade IMO as far as off-road capability goes. If you want modern creature comfort, get a new vehicle.
