Fuel Pump replacement

Hello,

I'm going to replace the fuel pump (leaks) and just wanted
to know if there are any pitfalls in the process. I got the OEM pump, gaskets, and insulator from Toyota and have some blue fix in place gasket sealant, and hose clamp/pliers.
It seems like a straight forward task, but I have not done one before,
so I though I'd ask some of the experts here

You are right, it is strait forward. Make sure that the pump arms are the same length, and that if your truck is using an isolator/gasket, that the new piece is the same thickness. This is about the only issue that could arise...

Don't know if there is a difference in years, off hand, but I got one once that had the little spring that kicks the pump arm back out out of it's seats. I had to put it back in when I realized (after installation) that it wasn't working.

The pump is for an 81-83 2F engine.
It has the same setup with the spring/arm and such.
I'll make sure it is in place. I did notice the arm is VERY hard to push with my hand, but I can, and it makes sounds like I would think it should make. U can hear the air.diaphram moving up and down. Was yours this way? Maybe I got a defective one? It was from the Toyota dealer and brand new...

Don't recall how hard it was to push the arm. But if it is springing back ok, then it probably IS OK.

The new pump sounds fine to me, bolt it up and run it!

hard to push is correct, , make sure you get the old gasket off the block. But it's an easy repair, I recall the bolts being hard to get in, due to the arm needing to be compressed, it all went together fine, just had to push hard when starting the bolts.
