Hello everyone,

I have a problem that has developed on one of my BJ70's. My sister has been borrowing the cruiser and she lives up on a moutain at about 3k FT, I have a turbo on the 3B but since it has gotten a little colder (not even 0c warmer) the engine quite after idling and would not refire. I finally got up to look at it over the weekend.

It seemed as if it was not getting any fuel, my sister had not been putting any additives in the fuel and I had her put some in at the time it died. After looking at the obvious stuff first (sensor wires, edic) I decided it was not getting fuel, I opened the bleeder valve on fuel filter housing, and air came out of it then some fuel, I tried to start it again and it was almost starting but would not stay started. I bleed it again, and got a little closer, then primed the pump and she started up. I thought air in the lines, why I do not know. Drove it around all day Saturday and it was fine.

Went to start it on Sunday, it started and idled for a little bit went to drive and quite, same problem, almost starts but not such luck. I opened the bleeder, no air nor fuel at all, so I primed it again with the pump, opened the bleeder let the fuel out, and it was fine again.

So the real question is what is causing it to lose fuel or get are in the system?? I have stock type fuel filter that is not that old. I had the fuel conditioner in the tank and drove about 100 miles on that tank the day before. The filter light is not staying on but maybe I need to drain the water trap, I really am not sure but I figure someone will know exactly what is wrong.

any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Mine did the exact same thing until I found an air leak at the connection of the fuel hose to the inlet side of the pump. When I turned off the engine, you could hear the pump sucking air through the hose clamp, which was too loose.

Check right from the tank to the pump, make sure the filter(s) are clean and the lines are tight.
