I have an 2006 Altima with the fuel door cable stretched. I can pull up on the release lever and see the fuel door move a bit but not enough to open. How do I open the door and adjust the cable?

Open the trunk and use the fuel door release.
Don't mean to sound stupid but is the fuel door release in the trunk located under the carpet on the drivers side. Do I have remove the carpet and all?

Open the trunk and use the fuel door release.
Thanks Gumby, I got it.. Is the tension on the cable adjustable? I looked at the assembly in the trunk and it doesn't look like it is from there. How about the lever itself?

I believe you are correct. I took a good look at the lever and it doesn't look like it is adjustable there either. And I believe it is going to be a real pain to install. Thanks for your help.

Cut a nut so you can slide it through the cable and use it as a spacer to take up the slack.
