Carry Fuel on a hitch mounted tire carrier

Anything dumb about modifying a hitch mount swing away tire carrier to hold two Jerrycans? I would like to carry 10 extra gallons a couple of times a year. I'm not planning to replace the rear bumper on my LC250.
