Working AC would be a BIG selling point to a lot of people.

I think it would be well worth it if it did not cost too much to do.....just my $.02

Still wish it was an 80...........:bang:

lynchmob got his AC going today in his diesel 60 series !!!
The pressure is on man........he is only asking 8K or so, but he does not have the suspension or rear bumper like you do.

Step up to the plate and get the AC going........I might get interested even if it is not an 80 w/ lockers !!!!!!!:hhmm:

I live about 2-3 hours from you too !!!

12H-T and 13B-T are not the same. There is more of difference than bumpers and suspension. Both trucks are fairly priced.

Just want to put my 2cents in I own a HJ61 with 12ht as well as many other LCs with a variety of engines and the 12ht is the best motor of them all.
The Hj goes twice the distance on a tank of gas as the wifes Fj62 and gets about the same as my 3B and 2B engines, the torque is amazing short of the low gearing in 1st and 2nd it has great acceleration and blows by most in its class.
The pricing on this one is not that far out of the park compared to what JDMs sell for here in Canada most sell in the 10-18k range.
All in all you wont be dissapointed if you buy it.

you cannot compare the trucks. they have different drivetrains. i am not competing with anyone here. if you think his is a better buy go for it.

Sorry about the lame comment.........I was just trying to be
a bit humerous.......guess it did not come across that way.
I was mainly trying to get you to hurry up and get the AC hooked up !!!

I am not that familiar w/ the Toyota Diesels........so this has been informative for me to see all the replies to my "comparison"
on the 2 vehicles.
I would seriously consider it but I hesitate due to having had a 55 and a 62 with the stock leaf springs and I really want the softer ride of the coils on an 80 series
So, having said that.........how does it ride with the suspension that you have on it now........???????

My compliments to you for a great looking 60 with a clean conversion/install

if you read post #78 Deneway was in town from Mass., and drove the truck. in my opinion it drives nice and smooth for having leafs. i also have an 80 with new susp. as well, but i like driving the 60 more. if you are thinking about diesel, research before making a big step in owning one. with toyota the parts are scarce and would have to be thought out in advance. its not a dodge.

dont worry about the remark, i dont .

I read the post # 78.....sounds nice !!!!

My concern re: the leaf suspension is whether my wife would be comfortable in it on a 1-2 day road trip on occasion........Guess I need to bring her up to see it too...that is if it is still available next weekend maybe... Are you going to be in the area on Labor Day weekend ?????
BTW, I would use it as a DD too.

I love driving the old Dodge W350, but it is a bit worn with 300K on the clock. Runs suprisingly strong.......No AC in a Black vehicle in the summer in the South is not for sissies.....

As far as Toyota Diesel parts, that has been a concern I was going to inquire about at some point.
Were do you get the parts from if you can?? Where do I research it to start with??

BTW, the 1st Gen. Dodge Cummins parts are getting a bit scarce too !.....But probably not near as tough as the Toyota stuff.
What are the most common probems with them other then the usual fuel and oil filter changes (of which you have several filters included in the deal).........I suppose that the fuel injectors and the fuel injector pump, etc would be the common problem.....as is with most diesels.....It seems as though one could get them out of Canada pretty easily as they are more abundent there.
I have some cousins that live in Australia......maybe they could source some parts for me.......for a price !!!!!
As far as the Dodge, the body parts and the G360 5 speed trans are the tougher things to get. The speedo sending unit is no longer available for example. It works sporatically. Right now it reads 80 mph in 1st gear......might be off a tad.

I just drive it by ear and stay with the flow of traffic....

if you can source parts from Aus, that is a plus. Canada has them as well. All of my research came from this website and has come a long way since. the injection pump on this particular engine, is not as troublesome as other diesels. as long as you do the oil changes and fuel filter i think it should be fine. i also have a water seperator. i was going to install it but didnt, it also comes with the sale.

Me and my wife go for drives with this vehicle all the time. she drives a 2008 ML 320 CDi Mercedes, and doesnt mind it. matter of fact we took it to Hilton Head this past July 4th about 4.5 hours from my house and had a good time. On the highway it is smooth.

oh and i am not sure if ill be here for Labor Day or not. i did have a camping/ fishing trip planned, but because of work wont know till last minute.

geeez

please someone buy this truck, its killing me. i have a hard time believing that anyone wouldn't be happy with it for a long time. looks awesome, great job.

Let me address some of the parts concerns.

I just had my injection pump and injectors serviced about 2-3 months ago. I did not order parts from Japan....I took the pump to an injection shop and dropped them off. 1 day later, they had recalibrated the pump, and rebuilt the injectors. Guys, these are NOT made by Toyota, they were made by DENSO. Denso made a LOT more injection pumps and injectors than just the 12ht, etc. These are commonly available to injection shops (not Toyota dealers though). The shop didn't need anything toyota part number wise either....everything they needed was stamped on the parts themselves.
Oil filters and fuel filters are common items at NAPA in any town. No big deal.
The only thing you may have a delay in, are Toyota specific items like gaskets, clutch disk, etc.
Toyota really followed the Mr. Potatohead philosophy though, so many items are actually common to the gassers as well.

LOTS of people are concerned with parts availability for the diesels. Well, I understand that. I also understand that I never walked into an Autozone or dealer and said, "I'd like a head gasket" and had them pull one off a shelf for my 2F either. Spark plugs yes, but those are common to a zillion other cars too. Even thermostats were order items. Everything gets ordered for a truck that's over 10 years old. The whole bag with old cars though is this....plan your maintenance in advance and in general, don't use them for everyday travel. Now....I drive my 40 every day, but I have also rebuilt nearly everything on it to be able to do that.

Following the above comment I just would like to add that you can source any part you want from UK. The shipping is not that much. In UK and Europe they are MANY Toyota Diesel trucks (HIACE and HILUX) so you don't really have to worry about parts.
Just my 2 cents ;)
