I have a 75 with stock turn signals and want to change to the earlier round turn signals.
Can it be done and how do you wire it for running lights and signals?

Just bolt them on. They have 2 bullet connectors 1 for park and 1 for turn.

Ones live ones ground. So I either have signals or running lights.

No, ground is the mountig stud. It wouldnt hurt to add a ground wire. This is a 75 with early style turns. I think I had to tap into the marker light circuit for the apron marker light.

FYI New ones for 75 up are still available from Toyota. I just ordered a later model (77) today for mine.

I just reread your post. I don't think the early rounds had a dual filament bulb. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be a marker or turn. I think the rounds were used with bib lights too.

I don't know what the light socket looks like, but you might be able to alter it or swap it out so that it can accommodate a dual function bulb. Changing the contact insert is easy(+ side), but the grd contacts might be a little more difficult. A word of caution though, the park light might build to much heat inside the fixture, idk.

I would just add an LED bulb inside the housing for a running light and use the regular bulb that is there for your turn signal.

The older tuna can lights do look so much cooler.
