Hello very smart and experienced Cruiser people. I'm rebuilding the front end on our daughter's '97 Collectors Edition after a "small" collision. I've had good luck finding solid salvaged sheet metal (inner and outer fenders on both sides, lower cowl, radiator support, and hood) but am tempted to buy new light assemblies. Problem is that I can only find the corner lights and front turn signals (below the headlights) in clear and not the original amber. The clear versions apparently use amber bulbs, maybe to meet regs?

I like the look of the original amber, but can probably be convinced to go clear if you guys tell me I'm just being weird. Does anyone have a source for new amber corner lights? I did find these front turn signals, and eBay says they fit, but what the heck is an "HDJ"80?

Thanks!

I run the clear corner lights and like them.

Went with depos and jdm clear corners

Yup. That's pretty awesome. No argument from me. Quick follow-up question: is yours an earlier model 80, or just an older grille? I really like the "TOYOTA" badging. Since I have to replace everything anyway, I thought I might use an older model grille like yours.
Here's mine all clear stock head light, older grille they only fit 91-94s I like them better two.

Built on 39s

If your car looks stock on the outside the clear depos look goofy and cheap. If you got a full build etc it looks good.
Thanks! I'm getting that feeling, too. '97 Collectors Edition, red, salvaged. I was going stock, but then started thinking about deleting the flares, and if I do that, we'll probably have to get rid of the running boards and mud flaps, so might as well go with a better bumper to make things look right, and I never really liked the stock roof rack or the wind deflector on the back, and the next thing ya know...clear depos!

+1 for the clear corners.
I originally used the Lexus lens's but they seem to be discontinued. Had to go aftermarket when I broke one.

Amber is the "rest of the world" spec. I think it's literally just the US and Canada that don't require amber turn signals. IMO it's a much better standard (can't mix up turn signals and brake/running lights), but you're in the US where anything goes, so do whatever you prefer I guess.

As already answered…
Yes older model grill with the corresponding lower apron

They have to have Amber bulbs so when they’re operating, they look Amber in the US😜
We all get. To have big lifts & tires😎

+1 clear corners, just looks tidy. LX corners if you wanna splash out.

Pfft, so do we! We just have to stay under a government regulated limit lift, or slightly bigger but within the next tier of government regulated limit. Then you just pay an engineer huge sums of money over the course of a few months to prove that your lift is within those government regulated limits and can operate on the road within other government regulated limits. A brief argument with highway patrol, a yellow defect sticker and a court date later, your car is back on the road for another 2 - 3 days of hassle free big lift & tires.

I don't know what you're bragging about.

About not having to pay engineer huge sums of money not having to wait months or deal with yellow de fact stickers and court dates.
😂🤣🤪
To be clear my DD is all stock 😎

They don't make it easy for us. To top it all off, even when you're 100% engineered and legal, it's still up to the officers discretion to defect the car.

80 series with a 1HD-T / 1HD-FT motor.

No idea on the quality or brand, grossly overpriced, but there's a set of amber lights.

If anyone wants to get rid of their horrible amber corner lenses, please drop me a line. I have the clear because I lost one of my ambers on the highway. I much prefer the amber.

I have a pair but in less than ideal condition . You looking for something very clean? I’ve been trying to find some for well over a year, impossible to find. Stuff on eBay looks like junk and selling for over $100 a piece.

Yes, I'm looking for something clean like you are. I wish I could find amber depos.
