If you have a 4" lift you should have sway bar drops all around, which will prevent that sort of issue on extreme articulation.

Second field test - I tested this again on Yank's Peak and the Two Sisters mountain (steep rocky ATV trails) and it works well. Once on flat ground - easy to disconnect and connect. Minor observation --- when disconnected I noticed a little more bump steer than normal when driving with no front sway bar, but that is a relativity minor issue given the articulation benefits.

I got one of these kits from my friend who wasn't needing disconnects anymore. I need to get the 2 piece pin and lock clip for the right side because I have factory lockers. My front swaybar drop spacers are out for delivery so I look forward to using this the next time I hit the trail. My Jeep ZJ with a 4.5" lift had disconnects and it made a big difference on the trail so anyone on the fence about this mod DO IT :)

Will these work in a 1990 HDJ81V-RNPEX?

US 1991-1992 do not have the needed threaded holes in place so if your 1990 HDJ does not have threaded holes or bump stops that bolt to the bottom of the frame above the axle the answer would be they will not work.

I just did installed this mod and other than having to chase out the 24 year old threads in the frame where the brackets are bolted to, everything went smoothly and fit and finish of the kit are as good as OEM!
Thank you LCP for a good quality sway bar disconnect kit!

@LandCruiserPhil have you thought about a rear sway bar disconnect solution? I currently dont run a front sway bar at all, which im fine with. I get substantially more articulation in the rear with the rear bar gone, but I do like the road manners better with the rear bar on. Would be cool to have something for the rear as well.

Yes, I agree no rear bar results in uncomfortable road manners. I have found that even running a Whiteline HD swaybar I get full articulation when adjusted correctly using our Sever Duty Rear Links. The articulation is slower but full with a rear bar. I do like the control you get with a rear swaybar when on difficult lines.
