Has anyone tried to fit a Front Runner Footwell Water Tank into their 100 series? Specifically, I want to know if it will fit behind the front seats and underneath the folded up rear seats ( not the third row seats). Looking at the specs and measuring with a tape, it looks like it should fit if you take the headrests off the seats. What says the brain trust?:beer:

if you are going to fold the seats up, you might as well just remove them. 8 bolts, super easy

I would suggest the same- just dump em in the garage or wherever. I'm going to remove one of my 2nd row seats to install a fridge there for instance. I was going to get rid of both, but thought to keep one for now in case I need to haul her mother somewhere.

FWIW: I, more or less, removed the middle row permanently (when the folks, etc., come to town and want a tour of the surrounding trails its about 30-minutes to reinstall the seats as needed). I had a buddy fab me a SS water tank that is easily installed/removed, sits low across the floor where the middle row used to be and holds 18-gallons of H2O.

Had him fab it with internal vertical supports that double as baffles as I pile storage boxes, etc. that get strapped down atop the tank.

It has worked out even better than I originally expected.

What is the approximate height of your tank? I'm too lazy to measure and calculate volume right now but love this idea. Would the mid row work out for passengers with the tank installed?

TIA,

No...there's no space under the middle row to accommodate an under tank...

The floor slopes down to the front so I designed the tank to sit flat/level on top for additional cargo storage.

20"W x 40"L x 4"H (rear)/5"H (front).

Gotcha,
I'm still learning to read  I thought it was a footwell tank like the frontrunner only optimized for our floor.

Great volume from that space in any case.
Thanks,

Old thread, I know... If someone wanted to come down to Front Runner (Burbank, CA) in their 100 and test fit it I'd be more than happy to be of assistance. Preferably someone that lives in Cali... I can also fit one and take pictures the next time someone comes down in a 100. It happens quite often. I can always post again unless this is a totally dead thread.

PM'd.

Let me know.

We have short term memory so if you post shiny pics, someone will buy one, once someone has it and loves it, all must have it and you're sales will go up.

Okay, I can take some photos if you like but be warned, I am neither a photographer nor do I have a camera other than my phone... So here are some nice product photos I stole from our server.
If you would like, you can check them out HERE for yourself. I just copy pasta'd the source. These aren't even from the site.

I've not done the research on tanks for the truck, but knowing what I know from industry, I'd look for a cross linked HDPE tank. The stuff is extremely resilient to damage. Those welded rigid poly tanks look to me like a flood waiting to happen.

My solution, since the Front Runner tank wouldn't fit with the seats up and head rests removed, was to go to a guy in Salt Lake who fabs tanks for RVs with some measurements. He made a food grade plastic tank that holds 14 gallons and fits perfectly- all for $125.00! Added some fittings and hose from House of Hose and we're good to go.:beer:
