I figured it would be an easy search, but I came up empty handed.

I have an LX450 without any front recovery points and would like some. I suppose I should mention that I (ashamedly) have stock bumpers.

I found some at autoparts stores, but the bolt spacing is not correct.

I've emailed cruiserparts.net about some OEM replacements (yes, I have read the arguments about OEMs not being strong enough).

Does anyone have a vendor and part number for some non OEM options. I like the hook style with the spring retainer (as pictured below). The picture comes from https://www.expeditionexchange.com/curt/indexmain.shtml
Do any of these fit an FZJ?

Sorry if the answer is out there already, I couldn't find it.

Thanks.

I have no idea what is wrong with the OEM not being strong enough, but if you don't have a replacement bumper chances are pretty good they are plenty strong, and by the time you need more you'll have bumper points anyway.

I have a set if you are interested.

I agree with Nay, OEM are plenty strong, in fact I just put on my ARB winch bumper and I reinstalled the OEM recovery points, primarly for them to take the rock impact before the bumper. I figure when I crush them I will remove them, but not so far....

OEM are plenty strong IMHO and as echoed above. I'm one of the few who will even use the ARB recovery points for a straight recovery pull.

Like Nay said the stockers are designed to get you out.You might stretch them but using safe recovery methods and common sence won't break them.

Go to the wreckers and get a couple from any 80.
A loop/eye is far better than a hook for obvious reasons.

I don't prefer the loops to a hook.
The hook requires 1 less piece of hardware (no shackle needed)
the old hooks seem stronger than the newer loops
the hook is faster- drop the snatch line on it and go

The loop does offer the advantage that the snatch is less likely to fall off while you are rigging the pull. And that is a nice thing.

Also the welds on the loop are weakened by rust. If the roads are salted in the winter I will bet they will break under extreme pressure. If they were brand new from the factory I would trust mine much more, but they seem a little too corroded for my liking.

Thanks for the offer, Nay! I may just take you up on that.

No, they won't; the bolt holes are spaced differently.

Thanks for the definitive answer, gotmud.

I do prefer the hooks over the loops as you don't need to introduce a shackle. All the hooks I have found online have been Heep specific or they do not list the diameters and locations of the mounting holes (JC Whitney, Northern Tool etc.).

This is the last time I'll bump this to the top, but has anyone found hooks (with spring retainers) that fit an FZJ?

Perhaps I should pose this question to the non-80 specific "Camping - Gear - Recovery" forum.

If you are having a hard time locating the proper hole spacing, what about ordering without the holes drilled and drilling them yourself?
