Front Lower Control Arm Bushings @ 185k

Ball joints (stock) don't have grease zerks. I would ONLY use OEM or 555's as the greasable BJ's are known to prematurely fail.

Look for tears in the boots and if there are none, jack the vehicle up and grab your pry bar and start testing them. Youtube is a good resource for that. The grease doesn't dry out in the ball joints unless the seal is compromised. My original ball joints were still good at 180k when I replaced them, including the lowers. I replaced them because I didn't know if they were still good. I did the uppers because the boots were torn. They were also good, but I didn't mind doing them too for peace of mind and longevity.

Truck has 200K miles now, there is a slight tear in the lower boot, grease must've been making its way out. Looks like a new set of upper and lower BJ will be in my cart. I've always been an OEM parts kinda guy, so i will stick with that if it'll last me another 200K miles.

Colorado State is allowing municipalities/cities to charge their own sales taxes to e-comm brands that sell over $100k in gross sales within the state. This nexus creates a hardship on companies, particularly small/medium enterprises as they not only have to file to pay sales taxes in those states but also in those municipalities. This can in some cases can include filing fees to even be able to report the taxes. Say you sell $1000 to someone in my city of Loveland, they might have to pay $150 to file with the municipality just to pay the .3% city sales tax rider. It was a foolish law and is poorly executed. We get that it works for getting firms like Amazon to pay in, but this effects everyone. If I want to buy a bumper from Slee, they have a stupid process to navigate.

Rock Auto has decided to only ship to Colorado residents that live in unincorporated areas, anyone living in a municipality or city is basically out of luck and Rock Auto's system will say they can't ship to you at all.

Our local forum for a little while had guys shipping to the unincorporated folks and then driving over and picking it up. Talk about a pain.

A frustration from us for sure, but time will tell on if they change the laws or if rock auto decides the opportunity cost of selling to the incorporated areas of CO is worth registering and dealing with the taxes.

There are a lot of automated services popping up to fill this void and hopefully address the shortcomings of current tax withholding systems. Keep in mind this was the Supreme Court Wayfair ruling on nexus and it has had a huge ripple effect across the U.S.

FYI - OEM LCA Bushings at Rock Auto

I purchased some AC Delco lower control arm bushings from Rock Auto for my 100 series. They are OEM and have the Toyota PN molded into the rubber and are made in Japan. ACDELCO 45G9288 ACDELCO 45G9287

think you got to call them. the front diff mount parts I ordered from the UAE got routed through Italy where they are stuck at a Fedex terminal with no delivery date.
edit: they were stuck in IT for two extra days but appear to be in Memphis now.
 
I'm going to do the whole front suspension overhaul. All 4 BJs, bushings, sway bar links, TRE's, repack bearings, flush and bleed AHC. Gotta keep busy during quarantine or else i'll lose my mind.

Also thinking about just replacing the starter, fuel pump, and do an AIP bypass while at it. Everything still works but i want to replace it for peace of mind for road trips in the future. Alternator and fan bracket was replaced so i'll leave that alone

FWIW i did the UCA & LCA bushings on my 01 Tacoma for the first time at 315k or so. the ride and handling significantly improved. the process is mostly the same for the LC except the one bushing in the frame. i bought a harbor freight press and a bearing splitter to press out the old control arm bushings.

my 00 LC at 295k seems fine and im sure they haven't been done before. I'll probably do them anyway whenever i go to overhaul the front suspension or decide to lift it.

Yep those are same. It's been a year or so-- could be different source by now but I'd bet not...
