Oem is good stuff for the most part.

If they loosened up that quickly, the cone washers would nto have helped ;)

If you have your stockers, then put them back on and keep the warns as spares. Which, you will probably never need but ;)

A friend of mine told me that you could use any toyota Aisin hubs on a cruiser. I have warns on my 40 and want to go to Aisins.

IFS hubs have a smaller splined section.

Unless you use Longfields hub gears they wont work..

JB-glad you made it home safe and sound. Your "old" hubs are fine. If you think they are bad, I'll come over and take them off your hands.

Still, I wouldn't panic. I ran Warns for years on my FJ40, including many Rubithons and did not have catastrophic failure. Still, the Aisin hubs are just better-hold them side by side, look at the machining, look at the chromed steel body of the Aisins. IT's immediately obvious which are the better hubs.

New hubs from the dealer are $$$$ if available. There are lots of used hubs around, that are as good as new. ANy mini-truck 79-85, any FJ60, any FJ62, and any FJ40 1979 and up, will have the hubs you want.

Your 60 did not sound stock, does it have a SBC?

Nooo! The Aisin hubs are not "chromed".

They are forged high-nickel (aka stainless) steel.

thanks for all the replies about where to source some OE hubs.

once i pay the Taxman, perhaps i can resume my parts hunt...

thanks again to all.

Dude, the warn you in the title(WARN). I've seen em go on 33's and a front locker. The Aisin's are an awesome hub, Some off road mag labeled them Bomb Proof not to long ago. If ya want somthing even beefer call up Bobby Long and get the 4340 hub gears for the Asisns.

yep it does. running kinda crap right now though...i crawled around under it upon return from dv and noticed the right side exhaust pipe seems pinched close to the header from hitting the front diff at full articulation (i guess) and i think thats making the motor feel unbalanced. im going to see about rerouting and replacing that this weekend over at my friends shop. the motor was a brand new gmc crate motor and while it seemed a big (power) improvement over stock ive never really liked the way it runs out. basically starts feeling like its beating on itself over 2.8k rpm and just acts sort of hesitant. but its stock so its not a hot rod or anything and i dont use it as such. ive been checking the ecm regularly with a scanner and no codes nor check engine light appear so i think all my smog crap is ok...the thing just feels unbalanced going through the power range and esp over those 8k ft passes fully loaded (may be too much to ask even of a 350 but somehow i think it ought to run better than it does).

by the way as someone else pointed out i dont think my aisin hubs are chrome plated. the warn one are i think...so they look nice anyway. btw i like that one about "it tells you right in the name" but hopefully that doesnt apply to the winch!

one love
jah bill
