Bearings have been repacked, front end is tight. Could it just be tire balance?

Repacked trying to eliminate vibration and it needed it anyway, has been 75,000 since last.

How old are the uJoints? Could be bad.

^U-Joints have recently been replaced, front and back.

the fact that it is at 35 and again at 65 almost guarantees tyre balance IMO.

if its out by much you generally feel the first harmonic of the vibration at 30mph and the second, stronger, at 60 mph. if you get to 90 its often terrifying :)

Hey,

Had this kind of a problem a while back and I have tried everything form U joints to tire/wheel swap form front to back etc it ended up being a my old exhaust, couple of mounts ware gone and they would vibrate at similar speeds as you describe. Also check if your spare is not loose if you have it under your truck. Checking emergency brake would not be a bad idea also. Get under and shake everything and if it's loose than it can create vibrations. Good luck.

Update. My mechanic looked at it today and found some play in the front rear new oem u-joint. He greased it up and the vibration is now gone. Going to replace that one, should be the end of the saga? Thanks for all the input. Oh BTW they were properly phased. This all started after the install of the rear u-joints.

Aftermarket ujoints are kind of iffy on quality and fitment. Some require a lot of fiddling around with clip/shims of assorted thickness to make them fit really tight. John

Regarding my post on 11/19/2012, problem not solved! Vibration is back, mechanic with 40 years experience is baffled? He has tried in phase out of phase all kinds of combinations to no avail? Rotated tires looked at front end suspension . Steering feels loose to me, vibration and steering to go straight? What next? There are many posts on site and I've read many. Nothing conclusive from the research. Need more ideas from guys with similar issues and how they resolved them. Thanks

As far as I remember. I replaced the rear ujoints as part of my overall plan on upgrading the truck. Then the vibration began. The mechanic checked and said maybe the front ujoints need to be done as there was some slack there too. So fronts were done and that's where we are today. Truth be told there was not any discernible vibration prior to all of the u joint work that I can recall. Now it's really bad.

He says no to denting. Is it possible it's a motor mount? It even vibrates at idle? And now pulling left?

Failed motor mounts are uncommon on the 1FZ, but are certainly worth checking. I'd also check the exhaust, as another poster mentioned.
