Shane's thread sparked renewed interest in my bumper persuit:hmm:.

Anyone have a bumper in perhaps restoreable/decent condition that I might be able to work with:p?

getting desperite:confused:.

I was working on making a reproduction, (thanks to Jim's help ) but work got real busy, so I haven't finished yet

Hopefully I'll have at least one ready this fall...I'll post pictures as soon as it's done, at which time you can tell me what you think.

there's a shop here in town that can produce them very easily.

I've brought in a later FJ40 bumper to show them, and he said it would be no problem.

they've bent up some pretty stout horse feeders to match some existing ones I had and they came out perfect.

they have hydraulic brakes to handle pretty heavy stuff.

the lids for the feeders have some compound bends along with corners, I was very happy with them.

So...what did they say about making front bumpers for the 25?

I've got a restoreable bumper....not for sale. ;) However, if you really want to tackle a repro project I'm sure we can work something out in this group to get you an example to work with.

They have a pretty tight radius on the end and I believe are close to 1/8" thick (I'd have to check) so make sure the shop is aware of that.

How close is the repro bumper sold by Cool Cruisers in Texas to the original FJ25 bumper?

Bumper, Front, FJ40/45

I'll be back in town tomorrow night, Thursday I have to go to the machine shop close by, I'll bring one of my 40 serieis bumpers with me along with the info above and get some definitive answers regarding time frames, pricing etc.

Here's a picture to give you an idea of the radius. Basically flat across the entire front and turns in at the end, unlike the 40 which has a longer radius beginning at the mounting bracket. If your 40 bumper is original Toyota it should be the same thickness.

has anyone ever compared the FJ55 rear bumper as far as the ends go?

I know it's a little bit longer but still curious.

I've got one of those at my disposal:hmm:

as it turns out I guess the first day that I went down with just the 40 series bumper I may not have talked to the "right" personel:frown:.

I returned today with a 55 series bumper to give them a little better example of the ends I'm looking for. I also brought a print-out of the pictures Jim supplied.

Well, the head Engineer came out and imediately said "sorry we cannot reproduce that here".

lame news I know

I wonder if there is anyone needing a 55 series in great shape that might be willing to trade:hmm:

So long story short, I'm back to looking for a bumper. After looking at the 55 series, it's too different and too nice to tear up to try and modify.

Well, I contacted them via ebay, and they say they can make them...I gave them this link...let us see if they come on over...

I E-mailed Alexandra a few times since Friday also. All I had was a picture to pass on though.

It would be nice if we could find someone to reproduce this with some automotive/Land Cruiser knowledge.

Jim had made me a great template...I'll see if she needs it. If so, I'll make her a copy...unless someone closer to them can drive over with a bumper for them to study :hmm:

Sean, I just e-mailed them back, and I cc'd you also...let me know what you think?

Hello guys.. It has been a while since I jumped into IH8mud... Yes I am the one with the capability to reproduce these parts, in fact with my wife Alexandra we started a company... better say we are expanding... our company here in the US. Unlike other body part companies WE make our own dies for all the panels we sell and we are well aware of the subtle differences bewteen the non US and our market here. We make parts for the 40 and 70 series and other non US trucks for now but will be expanding to the 55 and 60 later on.
You've probably have seen our parts for sale on Ebay already.
I also do restorations and I use my own parts so I know what you as a customer would be seeing. For those of you who have met us in person we are the guys from Atlanta, Georgia on the fuel injected tanned FJ40; We try to assist to all the TLCA events somewhat close to us.
We also do custom parts for our trucks. We don't do aluminium or fiber glass work, only OEM style steel parts and to make a short answer: yes we can have the bumpers hand made. If you need the bumper for the 25 series please give me a template that I can work from. I can guarantee that my work is as accurate as what the customer gives me to start with.
The name is Oscar by the way.
if you're wandering "were is the web site?" it is in the works. It will be posted soon.

If you can produce a early OEM quality bumper. I know I would buy at least two if the quality is there and the price was the same as the later FJ40. The holes on the bottom are in a different location than the later one besides the ends being different. These bumpers mount with bottom and top bracket instead of the top and side. The top is the same style just shorter minus a hole and the bottom is a trangle. Might make this a package deal. If not a example this group can get you the correct pattern all these items.

That's ok. I can make the bumper. So I guess I would need a pattern to start with, and pictures (for the general idea). The pattern can be as easy as scribing the bumper upper and lower lines on industrial masking paper (thick) roll it up and mail it to me. As far as the price goes I think it is going to be the same as for my FJ40 bumper but it would not include the brackets. then again the brackets won't be that much more...

I haven't seen a FJ25 around these parts but if there is someone with one and that person would like to visit me I can do the pattern myself.

So who is going to provide me with the pattern??? here is my phone : 770 403 8026

anyone besides myself interested? Is anyone willing to supply some traces of an OEM with bolt holes?
