Friends of Uwharrie needs your help Please.

Friends Of Uwharrie is a non-profit organization that is YOUR outdoor recreation advocate in Uwharrie National Forest. Right now our focus is working with the Forest Service to maintain and improve the OHV trails! One of our Mud / ONSC members serve on the board of directors for FOU on a volunteer basis, no directors recieve any pay. 100% of your donations go toward FOU's mission!

FOU is in need of funds to service the backhoe/loader and 5 ton dump truck that were donated to us by the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association. While we have donations of some filters and fluids, we also need several parts that are OEM/dealer only.

FOU is also in need of donations for the general fund. We have several expenses that we ned to pay for such as professional fees, insurance for the equipment, 501c3 application costs, PO box, etc.

Please consider making a donation, 100% of which will go directly to improving your OHV experience in Uwharrie National Forest!

I do not get over here too much right now as i have been spending about every weekend in URE trying to make it better for the next generation. I would really appreciate any and all help / donations you can do.

And i am the the person sitting on the BOD of FOU for the OHV crowd. We have a really big weekend coming up here this month for working on the trails with some big names like John Deere / Tread Lightly ( i am a Master Tread Trainer for them ) ONSC / and a bunch of other clubs / people in general.

Yes this is legit, we are just getting this off the ground right now as of this year so we are still in the crawl phase out of crawl / walk / run.

Marshall. Any little help is welcome. We just got some of the equipment from Tellico out there and it needs some work. We are not just for the Ohv crowd but also all the other stuff that goes on up there. Horses and everything else. We have a huge weekend workday to morrow that will involve numerous agencies/ clubs. Even if this is just people coming up and helping work on the trails it would be great.

its an honor to help. Did the PP thing, due to my owning a construction co, I am royally familiar with the equipment, and have lots of hyd. hoses and such laying around my shop, Let me know if I may be of more help. I have a 2yo & a 6 yo, to which I want both to understand the importance and joy in preserving our nat resources. ( Not to mention my 40 will be passed to my girls one day) Good Job Guys/Gal's

Not too sure if any of you get to ONSC section on here but the USFS has shut down RML where Kodak Rock is at. Looks like we will loose it for good maybe. Unfortunately.

I've been following the ONSC thread. It is much harder to get a trail of any type reopened once it is closed. :-(

The U.S. Forest Service has temporarily closed Rocky Mountain Loop Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Trail and Hang Glider Horse Trail in the Uwharrie National Forest.



The Forest Service closed the Rocky Mountain Loop OHV Trail, which includes Kodak Rock, and Hang Glider Horse trail because of excessive damage to the natural resources of these areas. The damage is directly related to recreational uses of OHVs, horses and dispersed camping off designated trails.



The trails and surrounding areas are closed for further review. The Forest Service is in the process of determining and selecting alternatives, which would protect the sensitive resources in these areas. A reopening date for the trails has yet to be determined.



Tickets will be issued to anyone found using OHVs, horses or dispersed camping in or along the closed trails.

That is not good at all! I was looking forward to conquering the tough section at Kodak Rock one of these days! I hope they open it back up!
