First post in the thread Ali. :D

Don't ask Pappy. He told me in October that there are no poisonous snakes in Utah. ;)

-Mike-

Dude, the degree is in Botany, plants. They don't teach such useless trivia such as snakes in California's higher schools. :grinpimp:

Two weeks makes it the weekend of Nov 10-11? I'm off those days, might be able to make it.

How long did it take, north portal & back?

FWIW juniper burns hot & dirty, with little pockets of sap that 'pop' as they burn. good for getting a fire started, not so good for an all-nite slow burn.

It takes about an hour and a half to two hours (depending on how bad your tail is wagging...) There's 60 miles of 4 lane, 13 miles of two lane, and about 10 miles of graded base course.

If everybody's not already familiar with the story, maybe Ali should share his adventure pulling a trailer load of gravel with his wife's 40th 80-series. Same problem, not enough tongue weight due to distribution of the load, and the trailer started taking over. Cut to the chase - a wet road and the trailer swung the Cruiser 180 degrees across both lanes of the two-lane road and they ended up pointing the wrong way on the road and the opposite way which they were headed originally. Luckily there was no opposing traffic, and the wet road may have let them slide instead of flipping the truck and the trailer. Oh and did I mention that his wife and baby were in the truck with him?

Ali - did I miss anything there?

Let's be careful out there!

he told me that story right before we had our incident. He was telling me to not touch the brakes at all. I am glad he told this to me because once we started wagging my first instinct was to brake. Ali was bracing himself and repeating "do not touch the brakes"

can't wait for next week! ;p

Well, I've had requests for both the 11th and 17th. I can't make it the 11th, but I can the 10th. We could do it the 10th, 17th or 18th. Let me know here or pm which you would prefer...

If you do the 17th then I'll come up with Bill.

Graham

17th would work better for me as well.

Thanks.

I can do the 17th also.

Vince

17th works for me.

Sounds like the 17th then! Same program, the gas station at the corner of 528 and 550, 9:00 am.

I see wood's up to $235 per cord. This is free, except for gas and time - plus you get to burn a few calories productively...

Anybody else?

See you guys in the am.

G

So, how did it work out? Curious (grounded) minds want to know...

Thanks to Steve for the 0900 phone call. Got the PS gearbox changed out in the Cruiser, and 25 miles later something was smoking in that area. Parked it til I could call the shop, then had to send bux to my brother to help him out, which grounded me. No interweb @ home to let ya'll know of my change in plans, my apologies.

Happy Turkey Day to all...
