So I would like to update on the frame replacement for my 2004 in Missouri. I took it in to the dealership, Pappas Toyota in St. Peters, Mo, and I can honestly say I have never been treated better anywhere at any time. These were the most helpful people I have ever been in contact with at any dealership. They took the time to completely walk me through everything and assigned a tech on the spot who came out and further explained the process and situation. They gave me a loaner TRD Tacoma for the 6 months that this process is going to take, and were truly great to deal with.

Glad they are taking care of you. I am pretty disappointed with the new tacomas. They have a good look to them, and I like the new beefy 9" differential in them, but everything else seems very cheap.

I agree, I will have zero issue going back to my 04 and miss it already. There is so much plastic everywhere in this truck with non essential items, it is all crap I just do not want in a truck. Don't get me wrong it is awesome that they are not leaving me swinging but this is not a truck I would buy

Link to previous posts about this? I'd like to see what the rotten frame looked like.

I had the frame on my '03 replaced. The frame looked pretty good but the Passenger rear shock mount rotted off. I drove around for a month or so with the shock mount lashed back onto the frame with some paracord. It held up the whole time that Boulder Toyota was trying to figure out if they would approve the recall or not since it didn't fit the standard rule where a 10mm nut needs to pass through the rust hole.

A coworker had to wait 9 months for the frame to be replaced in his '05 Tacoma 2WD, it was some special sport package with slightly lowered suspension, so the frame took a long time to show up. They also gave him a brand new Tacoma to drive, which he HATED.

Not to mention that '04 is the last year of the small truck. '05 and newer are now mid-sized. I vastly prefer a small truck and will be in a bad way when I have to replace my '04 when that time comes. Prior to my Taco, I had an '85 mini extra cab EFI for 19 years until the frame rotted out from under me. I prefer the '85 mini way over the '04 Taco. I would love to be able to buy a mint '85 mini. Would love to have it with galvanized steel frame... BudBuilt was going to produce the frames for these, but only a protype was ever made.

I do not disagree with you and definitely feel your pain, unfortunately I think we are a dying breed. Everyone wants every bell, whistle and electronic they can squeeze into something these days

Turned the new Tacoma back into the dealership today, I just couldn't handle it anymore. The terrible fuel economy, constantly hunting for gears on the highway, and the Mnt light coming on 2 days after I brought it home. They offered to give me a Camry, i declined. They refused to give me the keys to my truck back saying it was unsafe to drive so I will just have to drive my other vehicles until it is done sometime around 5 months from now

Bummer about the wait, and the loaner... I guess you'll just have to wrap up the 95.5... wink wink, nudge nudge.

Lol, yeah, I have been pretty busy traveling for work but did manage to get it fired for the first time with the v6 in it last weekend. It hit first try
