I remember along time ago hearing about the FJ55s in OZ with four wheel steering from the factory. These were sold to the mines and not offered to the public. I know there was talk about someone trying to get one and import it to the US but haven't heard anything in years. If I remember correctly these would steer with just the front wheel or be switched to four wheel steering to operate inside the mines with sharp turns. I'm just wondering if anybody on the FJ55 forum knows anything about this.

That would be a cool novelty, but I don't think you could get much steering from the rear axles since the wheels fit pretty tight in the wheel wells. Maybe they use a wider rear axle??? I would love to see pictures. It would be very interesting to see just how much abuse a cruiser axle could take with rear steer. If it was the older cruiser front I would guess you might not be safe with 31"-33"
