 Keep 'em coming. That's a beautiful spot!

Cause you asked ;) After fishing again in the morning, with no luck, we packed up and started bushwacking back out. My edic started acting up, so I unplugged it. Later after running into quadders that went in to the lake and were coming back out they said some trees that were wacking them in the face were covered in oil so we should check our trucks, and sure enough my turbo hose had blown off, so I had to top up oil and reattach my edic, so I had the low oil pressure safety shut off again:doh: good thing we stopped to hike down to the lake and ran into the quadders in and out, otherwise I may have just siezed my engine in there. Anyway it took a while hiking down to the one big lake we knew of and adam and the guys were starting to doubt my gps skills, luckily I pursuaded them to keep going cuase we were only 200m from the lake when they wanted to turn back. Our efforts were again rewarded by finding the lake to be quite scenic. Lots of bugs though, and the water was ice cold. Fairly large sized creek flowing in, which we stood at the creek entrance to the lake. Will have to slide a canoe down there one day to see if we can find fish in there.

After chilling at the lake (resting before the big steep hike out of there) we got back to the trucks and headed back to the second river crossing for the last night. Dogs were also tuckered from the big hike ;)

Then last day we started heading out and all was going well until we hit the bog. 10km left in the trail and Kendricks truck has no drive, stuck in the bog. Adam gets ansey waiting and tries going around in the deep part only to loose his reverse and also stuck, so I had to drop my trailer and winch them both out. Then adam started pulling Kendrick out the rest of the trial. Had a big problem in a creek washout where the truck wanted to fall down the steep creek. had to again drop trailer and winch back and road build to get him out, lost an hour. Then adam was getting air in his fuel so we took a break. Then started down the steep section in the trees and Kendrick lost his brakes and lightly rear ended adam. no dammage, so we hooked up my truck to be the brakes, and for some reason he had his reciever hitch siezed in but no pin, we forgot and I watched in horror as truck launched forward as I hit a rock and he rear ended adam again this time crushing his front end, but adams rear rack held up. adams buddy was in the back and was lucky he didnt fly out of the box. so then we re-assesed and tried again, adam blew his front axle, but fixed it. THen I almost rolled as I was letting kendrick down into a creek, so just stuck to letting him down with the winch. finally out of the tight section and we hooked up both trucks adam engine and me brakes and made like a team to get kendricks dead truck out of the trail to where he could come pick it up the next day witha carhauler. Made it home by midnight. Good times.:hillbilly:

The end for this adventure.:hillbilly:

Holy s**t!

You couldn't have planned it better! Yikes.

Sad to see the Ford banged up like that; that's an expensive wheelin' trip. Hope Kendricks will be back for more fun!

Yeah I think that's the end of that ford, my buddy Kim built that truck, although it is pretty stock, and then sold it to Kendrick for 1800 before he moved to PG. Kendrick hasn't put a dime into it since and drove it for a few years, I think his plan is to get a buddies similar truck and use this one for parts, or eventually get an old bronco like Adams to wheel, which is more of his dream truck. Hope he is at least learning, gotta think of everything and keep up on truck maintanence before heading into this place.

I hope anyone planning on coming with us in here in the future sees, that this place is not forgiving, definatly not a walk in the park. It can be easy when things go well, but can turn dangerous in a hurry. This is actually best case, considering what could have gone wrong.

Yeah we wanted to go there this winter but we didn't get around to it, as there were a bunch of school busses that someone draged in there that we knew and set up sort of cabins at the biggining of the trail to use during sledding season. However the Ministry of Forests dragged them out at the beggining of winter as they were illegal. Place gets a lot of snow, but snowmobiles head in regularly. One of Adams sledding buddies set up a trailer for sleds and sleeping in, so this year we are planning to go for sure. We wanted to head in one more time this fall, but it doesn't look promising as Adam has to work pretty much from now until Christmas with no breaks, but we will see.

yeah those big guys are a little big for this trail, and really I don't know how adam does it most of the time, I can barely squeeze the wagon through on most of this trail. Adam has a plan of his ultamite wheeler as an old school bronco (the little ones pre 77) on a full size drive train and frame, so slightly longer wheel base, and 4BT. Should be pretty sweet when done, only he is looking for a military trailer because he will lose a lot of the room that he enjoys so much, especially when hauling his wife, two kids, and three dogs!

I was going to say the domestic stuff is cheaper to build, but my neighbour has a late 70's Bronco he swears to have invested almost 30g into. Now he won't drive it because of the hotroded 460 :meh: I'm a bit suprised Adam hasn't gone to 1 ton axles and bigger driveshafts. Seems with how often he breaks the u-joints it would pay off. But I like the early bronco plan, cool trucks, for a ford.

Looks like another great weekend there Deny. Too bad about the fishing. And the smashed trucks

yeah it is cheaper in some ways, as right now adam is looking a swapping in a new tranny cause his jumps out of reverse when under load, and all he has to do is go to the local junk yard and pick one out from the many fords that are down there. I don't have that option, I keep having to ship parts up here and it takes forever and generally they are the wrong ones, which is really frustrating and is why I will be one day starting my own personal cruiser junk yard up here!:hillbilly: But the problem starts when they keep breaking stuff, it really adds up then.

Deny i keep creeping on this thread hoping for new posts, You've had way too much:censor: time off without a report on a trail run of some sort?. Quite keeping me in suspense:beer: cheers Neil

Sorry Neil,

I have been extremely busy at work, all I have done since my last trip in there is a quick drive down to Vancouver for Martins wedding, truck blew the oil line again in Quesnel in front of Canadian tire, so I could get more oil and keep going. Buddy Adam is in Camp working, might see him october long weekend and we might make one more trip in there then. I will post up if we do. Then might do a few trips in there this winter, will see. Then not till May long when we hope to go in and do a little trail maintenence while we wait for the snow to melt, and then more trips next year. Thanks for the interest, wouldn't mind someone from this forum coming on this trail one time with us to see this place and describe it from a different perspective, as obviously I am biased and just see this place as the ultimate paridise of back country travel:hillbilly:
Cheers,
Deny

Fall / winter runs would be bad ass, And maybe sometime i'll take you up on the offer to have someone "else" join you guys...Stay cool Neil:beer:

For sure Neil,

Any one with an old school cruiser is welcome, even if I haven't met them and I am unsure about how you wheel, I trust most old school cruiser guys are easy to get along with and will have no problems with my redneck buddy Adam.

Disclaimer to anyone thinking of coming up here, if you arn't comfortable with your truck on tight ledges, don't know how to deal with small issues in the bush, or have never been on the end of a tow rope for a few km on a trail, don't bother coming, because if there is a problem, it can get crappy in a hurry just look at what happend to our buddy Kendrick, and he was our buddy, if you are a dick, and we don't know you, we won't try to get your truck out (not because we are dicks, but having a person that is not cooperative or really inexperienced when we try to rescue a truck is damn dangerous for us, so we will leave it in there and get it out on our own in the future rather than risk dealing with something like that).

Also note, retards are not welcome, (and no not the freindly passenger kind, I have no issues with them :hillbilly:) only people with good attitudes will be tolerated. Make sure vehicle is in OK shape. Trailers allowed as long as you know how to wheel with it. Lockers and winches are optional, but be ready to take a tug, as we don't appreciate people ripping the crap out of the trail just so they can say they can make it on their own power. If you run a new school truck, you need to either know me, or know someone that I know and trust, who can vouch for you. And expect scratches at minimum, dents likely, and smashed grill or head lights possible.

Just covering myself for the odd web wheeler city slicker thinking they can join us who has never had to camp in areas where the mosquitos can be thick, drives a pansy vehicle (note we will tell you to turn around before hitting the trail if we don't think your truck is capable, although it doesn't mean we are looking for a mint off road machine), and doesn't have much seat time on the trail. Not meant to slam anybody, just want every one to know you need to take this trail seriously and keep an open mind before you even consider contacting me about meeting up with us. And no we are not wheeling snobs, I wheel with anybody, just this area is a little different, not your average trail you can just walk out to the highway and flag someone down if something goes wrong, then drive back in the afternoon with a couple buddies to get the truck out.

I appreciate the heads up. I'd love to wheel with you guys some day.

No Problem Rob, any time. I have met very few old school landcruiser guys that are dicks, so anyone driving an old school truck is welcome any time. I just gave out the warnings to the few that might not fit the norm of old school cruiser guy. if you own an old truck do not be intimadated by this trail, you will have no problems, even if you do not have a lot of wheeling experience, a good attitude is pretty much all you need. New school trucks need verification, since any wing nut can buy a newer truck and think they are the cat's ass, old school takes dedication, and is a stamp of approval in my books. :hillbilly:

Bummer about breaking down in quesnel. Next time your headed thru let me know, my cruiser would love buy yours a litre of 15w40 and swap rust storys.
