Hey Guys
Question, i found this FJ45swb in the hood by where i live. left guy a note. Havent heard back from him yet. Was wondering what would be a decent offer. or what it would be worth as is. As you can see by the photos it is not stock lots of Mickey mouse stuff on it. but from the minimal inspection i did i saw no major rust.
can anyone tell me or guess what year it is. hopefully i get a call back sometime during the week on it.
it is a column shift so i assuming it is a four speed. wheels are small and not original.
bed looks decent.
Any thoughts?

Late '64 early '65.
Column shifts were all three speed J30 boxes.
Wheels are 15" stock rims for that truck.
Rad.
Yeah, sometimes I wonder what Victoria's secret really is.

Looks like the owner really did not want anyone in the engine bay

Did you tell him his bezel is on upside down ? :)
Yeah first thing i noticed when i first saw it.

yeah, it wasn't in the best neighbor hood . so i am assuming keep from getting his battery stolen.

If you had a pic from the passenger side, that would be helpful. There are a fair number of guys on this forum that don't think heaters were stock until '65, so the lack of a louvered vent might be telling.

And now I know how you ended up in the 45 forum!

Ok, I will check it next time i go look at it.
Oh yeah! how did i end up here?... LOL
I read through all the forums. i'm not partial too just one type of vehicle. Equal opportunity.
And yes who i met sparked the interest even more. HAHA
My first Cruisers were Fj40's. A 1976 and a 1972. Regrettably sold them cause kids where born. We'll you know the story.
But it is best of both worlds with an FJ45.
i like them all!

Not sure if BOBW is an acronym yet, but it should be.

Retro cool AND room for all your gear.

Still have to load the ice chest and 30 feet of chain link fence I'm delivering to Darwin

But you could't do that with a swb. That's what i would like also is Lwb.

So true. As fate would have it, I got the swb first. If I'd driven a lwb, I probably would have never got into the swb the way I did. The ride of the LWB is SO much smoother. The overhang is a huge liability in the rocks, but the wheelbase rocks in the desert.

45 on the highway, 45 in the dirt!:steer::D

Well there was a reason you came upon the swb first. I can imagine there is a difference in the two.
yup thats pretty much the going speed for one of them. i'm ok with that. having a truck especially a cruiser truck would be cool.
then i get to pick your brain and learn more and more of these rigs.

A FJ45 pickup was one of a very few things I would say was on a bucket list. When I got mine twenty years ago I had three possible 45s to look at on a road trip. First was the lwb in Northern California. It was too clean to pass up and never went to Nevada to look at the two swb trucks. Years later I'm glad I bought the lwb or at least my back is. As for room I have as much room in my 2010 Sequoia as I do in the 45. Even more than can fit in the back of most Toyota pickups sold today. With the back two rows folded down I was able to put a 91" sofa in the back with the hatch closed. I like the look, ride and power of the Sequoia but in twenty years if I'm still around I'm sure the Sequoia will be sold and gone. Not the case with the 45.:)
