I saw a posted on FB and it was wrecked bad

I was thinking this morning. We should keep our Goose Lake trip on the books. Cooke City is gonna need the tourism dollars more than ever this year. I'm sure other towns are in the same situation. Two years of Covid and now this. We better look after our neighbors.

Isn't Cooke City inaccessible right now?

it is probably a round about way to get there but I was thinking it is still accessible thru WY at least until Red Lodge gets cleaned up

I think we need to try Marks In & Out again too. We chatted as a family that we need to try to get a few of our tourism $$$ to Livingston and Red Lodge, trying to support the home team. It's gonna be tough if the north entrance remains closed for a long time for them to survive without the tourism.

kinda better news, any volunteer engineers out there. here's another copy and paste for the latest update

UPDATE: (to my recent post on Morrison Jeep Trail)
OK, OK, the harassment
😃
worked so I made some calls...
The switchbacks are still closed, but there are some changes from what I said earlier.
My earlier post was incorrect regarding FSR 119. The emergency closure for the road along the river expired and was not renewed. So, as some have indicated, it is legal to drive up the canyon to the gate at the bottom of the switchbacks. The switchbacks are, of course, still closed to the gate at the top (Dilworth Bench), where it meets FSR 120.
I spoke with Evan Guzik, the Public Relations Officer for the Shoshone National Forest. He said they are still in a holding pattern due to a lack of personnel for many projects in the queue. He stated (I am paraphrasing) that they have "tons of money" to repair Morrison, thanks to the FEMA disaster recovery grants, but can't get the required personnel (mostly engineers, it seems) to complete these projects.
So:
The Canyon along the Clarks Fork (FSR 119) is open (seasonally) to the base of the Swithcbacks.
The top (FSR 120) is open (seasonally) from near Long Lake to the gate at the top of the switchbacks.
Sadly, everything else is still ON-HOLD.
Part of FSR 119 & all of FSR 120 are seasonally open from 7/16 to 3/31.
Note: Shoshone National Forest is always very nice to deal with. I appreciate their willingness to take some time to answer my questions.
Thanks to our followers and fellow wheelers who also shared updated info.

It was already closed and not opening this summer before that happened. The switchback section was still pending repairs from previous years and thanks to Trump and Musk destroying all the responsible agencies there wasn't any staff to do the work or contract it out so it wasn't going to open this year.

I believe that comment was from almost 3 years ago. I was going to reply to your further comment and also mention about the previous administrations total lack of action with the north carolina fiasco last year with the resulting loss of at least dozens of lives but this isn't the place for political comments of that nature.

I imagine if the right people at MSU were involved (Civil Engineering Department?) They could create senior year capstone projects with a real world result.

Ron, who have you been connecting with on the Land Use side of things?

i can hear the .govt workers already using the "red tape" and "flood plans" excuses. oh and don't forget the, it wasn't our fault it didn't get fixed, we just inherited this problem..

wow I'm sour today
