I posted a few weeks ago with a plumbing question I never asked. So here we go.

:)

I am doing a reno in part of my basement and want to put in a 4 piece bathroom.

The bathroom is going to go in front of where the door is currently (the door will be drywalled in to become the back wall of the bathroom).

As you can see, there is a step down, the main line lies 4 feet past the step.

I have a stack with a tree 9 feet over (right) from the door (Where the insulation breaks), and another bathroom on the other side of the wall.

Questions if you can:

1. Do I need a new stack to vent the drains, or can I get away with what I have?

2. How deep beneth the pad does a sewer line lie? I am wondering if I will need to put in an elevated subfloor, or if I can leave it. Might only know when I get in there?

Any advice?

Thanks much fellas!

LOL!!! Just finished the tidy up from taking it all down! Need a dumpster STAT!

Venting is not as much an issue(unless you're "draining " both rooms at exactly the same time)even then it's doubtful that will be the issue. The drain to Main is really any bodies guess, but I'm guessing anywhere from 2-3 '.The fall on your toilet is actually the biggest issue.Too low of fall will allow fluids to drain while solids hang on.Too steep will also allow the solids to hang as the fluid rushes past.Rule of thumb is 1/4 bubble fall on soil drains. Also,it appears you have at least 2 step downs. The depth of your Main is really just a little digging after you score and chip out the slab.Dusty White Boogers!Wear a mask.I'm not a plumber but you may ask someone about the venting.I'm only useing logic but Codes are more important. It would probably be better to run a seperate stack. You could always call a local Plumber and pick the brain.Hell, let em bid it.Good luck,Bro.

Three rules that Plumbers know.....

s*** goes DOWN

Stink goes UP

And payday is Friday;)

You might be surprised how deep the lines are. Mine are 5-7 feet below the basement floor...I know because I trenched them....with the plumber standing by. Look down the cleanout with a flashlight. But remember rule #2;)
