'78 for sale in Wshington State

'78 fj40 for sale in washington state. Cruiser is mostly stock except for the 350 SBC and the fenders have been cut. Original engine mounting pads are still present if some wanted to convert back to F engine. Everything works in this cruiser and has been a good daily driver. There is minimal rust on the cruiser. The only rusted spot is, there's a dime size hole below the passenger door and the PO had made a repair to the rear sill and lower right rear corner. Not sure what was done, but from underneath and in the wheel wells all the metal is present and in good shape.

Is this truck still available, and is it the same one that was listed in the Tallahassee Democrat for sale?

It sounds like the number of half day fixes won't have any affect on a drive across the plains.
No, the type of TLC it needs does not really involve things that affect driveability much. The exception is the alignment - there is a vibration that would get annoying on a long trip. I could go ahead and have that done prior to a person picking up the truck, though.

You said that there is an oil leak when it sits. How much? How much oil does it burn? Add a certain amount at each fill up?
Thanks for the update.
Michael
I don't really have specific amounts. It's not as much as what it sounds like you're thinking though. I don't find it necessary to top up the oil at every gas fill up by any means. My habit was I would just check it when I thought about it - maybe a few times between oil changes - and it would never be out of range, but if it were low I'd top it up.

As for how much it burns, again, I don't think that much. There's definately some smoke at cold start up, but that's about it. It's hard to say how much is burning and how much is leaking, but since the total of both burning and leaking isn't very much, one can assume that the amount burning is, umm, probably half of not very much?

And for leak when it sits: It's not the Valdez or anything, but you aren't going to want to park it on the driveway of that brand new house your parents just built, either, because it's sure to leave at least a drop.

Sorry I don't have more specifics. I'm going to be driving it around this week, because I want to get it some more exposure. I'll fill up the oil tomorrow, and see if at the end of a week the loss is even measurable. I don't think it will be, though.

Any pics of the interior yet?
Yup. Thanks for your patience. I put them on my website at http://home.off-road.com/~mtnmantis/. If you have anything specific you want pics of that I didn't get, let me know.
Also, I updated the text of the ad. Please reread it. I know this truck needs some work, and I'm wanting the buyer to have a clear picture of what it needs. Thanks

FS: 1981 FJ60 NW Arkansas

I am selling the above mentioned vehicle, in order to buy something a little more fuel efficient. The vehicle is in stock condition, with several minor points to be addressed. I am the third owner of the vehicle, and the last owner (before May) owned the vehicle since ~90k miles. It was a family car and has seen about 10k miles per year since new. This car is perfect for someone wanting to build an extreme offroad vehicle on a budget!

All work on the vehicle is documented by the previous owner (Document in excel file), along with some of the work I have completed. Furthermore, there are about 25 oil analyses that were run by professional labs, giving synopsis of engine condition.

Condition 7/10
Color: White
Body: Straight, few dings and dents
Interior: Brown (minimal wear on newer interior)
Mileage: 246K
Tires: Excellent Condition lots of tread
Steering: New tierod ends and draglink ends (you need to install & align)
Engine: expected wear from such vintage landcruiser. I have made several 300 mile trips, but is not a quiet ride by any means. Could use some PMs and internal parts replacement.
Brakes: Overhauled within the last 1500 miles
Stereo: Kenwood CD player
Accessories: canoe rack
