Sorry I'm late getting back on these questions. I thought I was subscribed to the thread, but I was subscribed with no email notification (how does that differ from not subscribed
Anyway, the desmog is like this. Several years ago R. Adams picked J. Chenoweth's brain about how to desmog a cruiser. The information he received he recorded by altering a schematic from the 2F Emission Manual. I obtained this schematic, but could make little sense of it, really. So I parked side by side by R. Adams cruiser, and we went to work, copying his "J. Chenoweth approved" desmog. To facilitate this process for other schematic-challanged cruiserheads, I started a website to document, in simple terms, how this was done. Life got in the way and the website never got entirely finished, but it details most of the vacuum line routing. It can be accessed by the same link as above.
Regarding the cat. The cat is not removed on this truck. Really, it should be. I had trouble obtaining a "test pipe" since those are now illegal. Instead, I have the old cat from the truck (not rusty as it's a SW US truck) which could be hollowed out quite easily, or one could use the flanges from it to make a test pipe.
Hope this helps...
Reid
