Good project. I’ve looked at the 40 and also the parts 1980. Do not have interest in another project so passed. Basically the 81 is complete and drivable but a very rusted out tub. Has lots of body putty and a very amateur paint job. Very salvageable otherwise. The 80 parts truck is disassembled with top, tub and front of frame missing. Rest is all mostly there. This may be a real find for someone. Motivated seller. Best wishes in your search.

That's a little much in that body condition. Have some closer ups of the quarters and inside them cargo area/sill? Undercarriage?

Sorry, I listed this as unassociated observer. Because it’s only about 75 miles away I went to look at it. Too big of a project for me so I thought I would pass along. Owner was very friendly and I’m sure he would answer any questions you may have. Again, he’s pretty motivated.

Are the parts compatible between the two years? Hunting for my first FJ may be more than I can handle from a DD Resto but for the right price I’d be willing to try just wondering if the parts are interchangeable. Thx

Many parts are interchangeable, but you need to know (and learn) what model modification Toyota did. Also it is depend what your want from FJ40. Some member make a model correct restoration some don't really care, some did monster truck from FJ40...

As for me, those additional parts not rally help to make a tub panels rust free.... what will require a lot of work or/and money
