Does anybody know how to turn the factory fog lights on independantly from the headlights? We get some pretty heavy snow conditions here and I would like to be able to run the fog lights without the headlights to cut down on light scatter. I am even thinking of going to the amber coated PIAA bulbs in the fogs if I can figure this out. That may still leave the issue of the daytime running lights though...

the stock fog lights are IMOP junk as were the IPF lights in the ARB bull bar.

The factory fog lights only come on if the headlights are on. Having the parking lights on is fine, as you need rear tail lights etc for those conditions. How do you disable the DRL (and what is it?)

Thanks. Now, how to turn on the fogs without the headlights.

Thanks. I wonder if that takes care of the fog only selection or just the high beam issue. That is one I have wanted to fix as well as it would be nice to have some additional light out in the middle of nowhere.

I haven't done this mod but I think this is the solution. It is the same mod that allows you to use your fogs with high beams. It sounds like it makes the foglights turn on/off with the factory switch independent of what the low/high beams are doing.

i have done this mod so i can run my Hella lights on my brushgaurd off the switch on the light stalk. i just went out to check. the fog lights DO NOT come on when the headlights are in the PARKING LIGHTS or OFF position. the only thing it allows them to do is come on with the brights.

I realize the correct answer is to add some fog lights, but it makes me mad that I can't do what I want with the factory set up.

well suck it up, we modify our trucks so we can do exactly what we want with them, stock form is only good for the common folk, not us mudders.

Fogs must be turned on, and will only come on when your full lights come on.

In the last four years, has anyone figured out a way to run the OEM fog lights via the OEM stalk independent of the low beams (i.e. with no lights on or with the parking lights on)?

I have already disabled the DRLs as well as completed the wiring mod to keep the fogs on with the high beams.

This is interesting becuase on my 98 cruiser:

1 click anti clockwise = Tiny LED's and fogs
2nd click = Low beams
push or pull = high beams

Fogs and low stay on with highbeams... and I have done no mods to the wiring or switch (Except 55w HID's all round)

What HID kits are you running Gunney?

Some cheep as chips 55w 600k (6000k??? - They are white not blue :meh: ) in both the high and low beams.

Interestingly the OEM cruiser headlings caused massive fragmentation, but my Depo replacemnets gave a facroty clean cut off. I will post some pics in my build thread tomorrow.

They are soooooooo good I REALLY want to put HID's in the 4x Hellas :D

Anyone have an EWD for this part of the truck, I may be able to figure it out.....then use Nick as a guinea pig :D
