I am currently in Baja and while I was under the car tightening header bolts in hopes to fix a current exhaust leak I noticed the flywheel inspection plate was missing. I read that it neither seals nor holds oil. Is it safe to drive home with it off until I get the part in the states or should I attempt to get one fabricated here? Thanks any opinions or suggestions are appreciated!

How much water do you plan on crossing?

It's just a dust cover - make one out of an unrolled beer can, punch holes, bolt on - and drive home. Fix correctly later.

great idea! Now should I use a tecate can or a Fresca can? A Coca Cola one might actually look good

Hopefully none! I'm guessing that could be an issue?

That and mud or maybe some ground debris like pebbles or stones would be the only issue... probably a good idea to cover it up as suggested.
