What are the trails like in Tate’s Hell and Apalachee? Is there a cost to enter?

No idea, but also curious for the answer. Is quite a number of hours from me but closer than the smokies.

Check out my post below re: Tates and ANF. This is my back yard. The entire complex takes up Wakulla, Franklin, western Leon and Liberty Counties. Id like to run Osceola, but thats a good ways for me but not to bad- 2.5 hours maybe. ANF/TH is flat. Very low ground. Osceola has some climbs.

I’m up to check these spots out sometime if y’all ever put something together! Coming from Orlando.

Cool man. I guess i can host it. Here is a much better interactive map. ArcGIS Web Application

Gives you a much better idea how big the complex is. If you click on a quad you can download the geotiff for your nav or a old school pdf.

I'd be willing and coming from Melbourne. We'd likely end up camping out somewhere up there, but not sure how much free time we have this year - Thanksgiving and christmas are booked but we might be able to squeeze a weekend somewhere else in there.

Ill let you all know if I head that way as well. Going to Flagler this weekend. Go to Smyrna/Daytona/Orlando a lot. Osceola isn't as desolated, but it is the central spot. Camping can be had all over the place in ANF. I keep meaning to disappear for the weekend more.

I've spent a lot of time going through Ocala national forest and haven't found much beyond dirt roads and the very occasional challenge. Everywhere else I've been around here is massive mud bogs. I look forward to new and different mud bogs!

I’ve been finding some interesting trails in Inverness. But I’m sick of the same old trails so I’m ready for something new. It’s probably similar since it’s all Florida, but the gas bill to mountains and back is somewhere in the millions of dollars, so ANF and/or Tate’s will do.

We usually get out there roughly twice a year. We're planning to spend a few days near Asheville over the Christmas holidays. 12 mpg is what I get towing the camping trailer.

Personally Id love to run to the mountains with some folks. I can get to Atlanta in 3-4 hours. Spent some time around Brasstown through work. That would do.

I’ve looked up some trails in GA like River Rock off road park which seems to have some cool stuff.. You can get into some hills in GA if anyone is knowledgeable on the trails up there.

I too would love a georgia or NC mountain run sometime, it's just so far away that I like to take a four day or longer trip to enjoy it. It's hard to manage that with work and kids though. I might take memorial day week off and head to the mountains if anyone else is interested. I could maybe get away for a weekend before that.

Hey, just a reminder for those out there with a 100 style series, get that heater hose T pipe replaced when you do your 90k service. Mine broke last night and left me stranded. Little 10-20 dollar piece that’s a dyi replace but can save you a lot of headache.

I checked mine and they certainly don't look like they're that old; neither do all the hoses. So I'm in the fun position of being unsure how old all my radiator hoses are. I'm guessing they were replaced at the same time the timing belt was done - roughly 115k I think, but without evidence...sigh. Need to go back and look at my paperwork and see if any of that is in there.

Welcome to Florida people I know do their own repairs you can do like a tech session at your place and people will answer to the call

Welcome. Hope you're not coming from somewhere like Colorado with good off roading. Florida is a tough gig for that kind of thing.
I am up in the Lake Nona area to the south east of orlando. Always happy to help out where I can. I have most tools and not much on my 80 that I haven't baselined. :)
