Ok, so I am going to finally create a thread to document what I have done and for future mods to come. Almost embarrassing to do this with some of the builds on mud, but its mine and the family and I love this 80.

I bought my 92 in 2011 and have been doing PM, refurbishing and mild mods along the way. The ARB, lift and tires were on the truck when I bought it from a mud member in Alabama. Originally it was a California truck, so no rust! I can't find my pics of when I brought it home with 200K on the clock, but here we go!

To date here are the mods (pics to follow):

ARB front, smitty winch, 2.5 OME lift, PIAA lights, 33" Summit Mts, Sure power dual battery, VDO temp gauge, hand throttle, IPOR SS brake lines, FZJ EBC front brakes (rotors and pads), Pioneer head unit, Boston acoustic front speakers and polk audio rears, 2.5" exhaust w borla muffler and removed cats.

When I got it home I went to work. Full detail buffing out oxidized paint, repaired and repainted one of the flares that was damaged, painted all the wiper arms, center caps, tinted the windows and rhino lined the wheel wells black.

MAINTENANCE 2011 (ALL TOYOTA PARTS BELOW except o2 sensors):

* Replaced broken antenae mast
* Replaced front pinion seal that was leaking
* All fluids baselined - oil, diffs, coolant flush (refill w Toyo red), trans and transfer case

* Replaced radio with Pioneer single din
* Fuel pressure regulator
* Cleaned intake and throttle body
* New intake tube
* New EGR valve and modulator, intake manifold gasket, exhaust gasket (was leaking)

* Alternator replaced (Toyota reman)
* Steering shaft seal (no more hot feet)
* Adjusted throttle / downshift cables
* Temp sending unit and ECU temp sensor
* New alarm remote

2013:

* All belts replaced
* Fan clutch service w 10K clutch oil
* sunroof drains cleaned
* AC system serviced and schradder valve replaced
* Removed smog (air pump and silencer)
* Denso O2 sensors

2014:

* Charcoal canister rebuilt - see below
* All vac hoses replaced w silicone hoses
* EGR VSV replaced

* fuel filter

2015:

* Full front axel service
* New Koyo bearings
* EBC rotors (FZJ upgrade)

* IPOR SS brake lines

I want to thank everyone that contributes to this forum for all the help along the way. This is such a great community!

VDO temp gauge install. Really like how it matches original gauges and knowing how hot the truck is actually running.

Rebuilt the charcoal canister....I think it was Landcruiserphil that i saw do it originally, but not sure.

It was really easy and cost like 12 bucks! Just bought new charcoal from walmart, washed the inserts and used brake cleaner on the valve on top.[/ATTACH]

So recently I got tired of looking at my faded rear bumper. I decided to paint it until I can do a 4X4 lab bumper or summit cruiser jrs swing out mod.

So while I was working on the bumper I got the idea to see what was under the roof rack. Of course that opened another can of worms. I removed the rack and used a dremel to file off the nutserts and then filled the holes with marine tex (marine epoxy). Sanded, primed and sprayed. Came out pretty great.

what all parts did you need to put the FZJ brakes on the front? I just replaced my rear axle with a FF disc and would like to put the bigger rotors on the front too.

Gotta have a couple of shots enjoying the outdoors

Just get new rotors, calipers and trim the dust shields (or get some off an FZJ)! I just cut mine with an air saw. Everything else works fine. The FJ80 brake lines thread right in. Between that and bleeding the whole system, it stops great now. About as easy as it gets....one less thing for the fzj guys to say is better on their trucks! ;)

Florida 80, great looking truck. I would like to talk to you. I live in Middleburg and drive a 1996 FZJ80. I'm getting ready to do some work on it and would like your input. Email me and I'll give you my phone number malcolmstewart@comcast.net or vise versa.
