Floor Mats

I want to replace my OEM mats. My main reason is winter wear and my drivers side is totally curled and doesn't fit well. For Winter I would think the Xtreme catch all, but I know I will want carpeted next summer. So I will be faced with putting my current ones back in or getting new carpeted ones then.

Anybody have experience with the Xtreme Catch all? Color match, durability, fit and feel?

Also, How well do the carpeted ones really clean up if you get snow grime (you know the black slush) on them?

Also, what do you do if anything to protect the tail gate carpet? I think this is one of the funniest places for carpet material.

I have the factory Lexus mats in my LX...they cover the entire rear floor unlike the ones in the pix above. I got them earlier this year. Maybe there was a redesign?

my first set of weather tech did wear a hole quick but the newest ones seem to be a little different compound? i think they will last longer, time will tell

I have the Nifty Catch All Premium set front and middle (carpeted version). Put them in new about 18-months ago. Have had them covered in mud, gravel, grit, sand (SnT ;) ) and after quarter car wash spray they still look great. My only complaint is the retention "clip"...during 'city' use they stay put...but with hunting boots and more aggressive in/out's of the cab they come unhooked...however if I had to buy them again I would inspite of this little annoyance.

I also have the nifty catch all's. The fronts cover more than the OEM mats. Second row doesn't go underneath the front seats as far as the OEM LX carpeted mats. FYI, I put the nifty's on top of the OEM mats throughout except in the driver's footwell. I'm not using the nifty clips. I went to ACE hardware and bought a brass grommet set, drove grommets in the corners of the front mats to allow use of the OEM clips. The second row mats tend to get pushed forward a little, as I'm using no clips. The newer OEM LX rubber mats for the second row cover the center section (not two separate small mats). I just have some oil stains on the second row mat where the passenger sits (probably from oil in parking lots). Not sure if those will wash out.

The rear cargo nifty is also slightly smaller than the OEM LX mat. I just threw it on top, though.

For the tailgate, I use a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet cut to the shape of the gate, but tucked under the nifty cargo mat. Sure, the carpet flops forward when you close the gate, but each time I open it, I lay it out before the dog jumps in. OEM tailgate carpet is still clean!

The mats all have a "lip" around the perimeter to catch liquid. The dog's crate is large enough to sit on top of the lip in the cargo area, but the lip is soft, so it regains shape after pulling the crate out, even after two weeks. I didn't like the rigid lips like on the huskys, plus I like the carpeted finish of the nifty's.

Jim: Toyota must have changed the floor mat clip in post '99 sometime as my '99 only has one 'hook' on the front DS and no other mat retention clips/fixtures anywhere else. That is one thing Volvo and Audi did so well...nice solid mounting fixtures for the mats (front and middle) so they do not budge regardless of entry/exit force.

We rented a 105 in Australia and it had all vinyl flooring (rather than carpet) from front to the back cargo area. So no floor mats needed nor mat edges to catch your boots on. I dislike my beige carpet because it gets dirty so easily. Too light in color IMO.

If you look in post #27 of this thread, you can see the mat retaining clips on my 98 LX. You might have the holes and just missing the clips. I think I might just have some extra clips if you want them.

I have the two clips for each front mat like in response #27. I guess your single clip is why my catch all mats only came with a single grommet on the driver's side. I was always wondering why there was only one grommet. Hence, I bought the ACE hardware grommet kit. I think those clips just screw into the carpet. I'd imagine you could buy a couple and install them in the second row. Now that I look at the front rubber Lexus mats in #27, they don't seem to cover as much (close to the seat base) as the catch-all's. I often keep my dirty shoes there and drive w/ sandals, so having the catch-alls keeps all the dirt off the carpet. With the OEM mats, nothing covers that area.

Jim or Spresso, do you mind posting detailed pictures of your Nifty Catch-All floormats? Mine suck. I'm interested in both the carpeted and rubber/vinyl (extreme) versions.

As soon as I get home...no problemo.

and if you care for some pictures of the NEW style LX470 mats...that cover the whole 2nd row, i can post some. The new version is so much better then the old lexus mats with the big L in the middle. They hold water and stuff alot better.

Hoser...here's a pic of each mat in my '99. These, particularly the fronts, have been mudded/sanded/etc. and washed numerous times.

Mine look exactly like spressomon's, except I removed the plastic eyelets (right rear corner of driver's mat, rear corners of passenger and 2nd row mats) and replaced them w/ brass grommets. For the rear cargo mat, I hammered in two grommets near each rear corner so I could fit rope through there and tie the dog crate to the d-ring.

Thanks Spresso! Your carpet looks darker than the LX's biege carpet. I like yours better.

Anybody else have this problem?

Stock/Standard cargo liner in my 2000 LX slides to the rear, and ONLY to the left - it's the damndest thing, I don't take more right turns than left, or harder right turns than left, and it could have stuff sitting on it, or be completely unburdened, but the thing always slides to the Left!!

Also, not impressed by the fit of the liner - would expect more from Lexus - not a complaint, just an observation.

yeah my carpeted mat for the rear always moved left/back. Now that i have a subwoofer sitting on it and a little bracket to hold my subwoofer utilizing the front left mount for the passanger side 3rd row seat....it doesnt move much!

I have to adjust it maybe every 1-2 months or when i take the sub out....but it used to move as soon as i drove after adjusting it.

Pics of XTreme Catch All

I'm really happy with the Xtreme version. Yes, they are expensive but check out how they look:D You can actually push them under the plastic molding for a really custom look. I'm probably going to get the cargo mat as well. I was worried about the color but what a great match it turned out to be.

Thanks for posting the pics, CrusrDug! I'm still trying to decide between the Catch-All Extreme and the Weathertech Floor liners (pictured). The Weathertechs are $25 more for front and rears.
